Customer Reviews of Polder 365 Replacement Probe for the Digital 3-in-1 Thermometer (602-90)
Customer Rating: Summary: Works, but often needs to be replaced. Overheats easily. Comment: This is the THIRD replacement probe I've bought for my Polder timer/thermometer. I think I've had it with this thing and won't bother with any more replacements. It's slow to pick up a temperature reading (it is NOT "instant read" thermometer!), which is bad if you're using it for candy making or chocolate. You can, however, stick it in a meat and stick it in the oven. It overheats pretty easily, which renders it useless and then you have to buy another probe. I think Polder is actually in the replacement probe business, that's probably how they stay afloat. Customer Rating: Summary: No failures here Comment: The trick to keeping this probe working is to keep it dry- don't ever let water leak into the probe when the wire attaches. I've had one for four years and it still functions perfectly Customer Rating: Summary: Get a backupand a backup to your backup Comment: A definite must-have if you already own a probe thermometer unit. These probes get dirty sometimes and need replacing. Might want to pick up four or five. Customer Rating: Summary: Fantastic Replacement Comment: I use this with 3 different cooking thermometer models I have and it works great in all of them. Customer Rating: Summary: Cooking Thermometer Probe Comment: I have found this type probe to be very useful and long lived. I cook on the grill from 4 to 5 time a week every week of the year regardless of weather. This probe does it's job without any problems. One note of warning, wash the prob itself or even scrub it with steel wool but don't wash the flexible cable atached to the probe. I learned the hard way by ruining several probes this way. Rain doesn't seem to bother it but washing sure does. The cable may get kind of grungy from grill smoke but this doesn't hurt it. This probe should last several years without any problem. More Reviews This replacement probe fits the Polder Preprogrammed Cooking Thermometer, Wireless Remote Cooking Thermometer/Timer, and the Smart Fork. The 8-inch-long curved probe inserts into even the largest roast, while the 39-inch wire is long enough to reach from the cooking food to the sensor unit. The probe stays in the meat during cooking, and the oven door closes over the wire. Not to be used for taking the oven temperature, the probe is suitable for measuring cooking temperatures up to 392 degrees F (200 degrees C). Heat-resistant gloves or potholders should be used when handling the hot wire and probe. --Ann Bieri Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Polder 365 Replacement Probe for the Digital 3-in-1 Thermometer (602-90) Useful info -> Self-Cleaning Ovens Store measuring cups, mixing bowls and other items used together in the same place. Duplicate frequently used items like cutting boards, knives and dish towels in each work area. Keep two containers - one at the baking center, the other at the range - for wooden spoons, spatulas and other cooking basics. And try to store every item at its first point of use. Keep the saute pan near the range, and stow pasta pots near the sink. |
