Customer Rating:   Summary: Homeowner Comment: We purchased 2 full sets for each of our homes. They guarantee that the paint will not chip off. Since you cannot put them in a dishwasher, we hand washed them using a soft sponge. One side being cloth and the other side being a plastic material. Over a period of about 2 years, the paint started chipping off the top rims. We sent 3 of them back without lids along with a check to cover shipping. They sent us 3 new pots with lids in 4 weeks. A good thing about the pots is that once they are heated up, you can cut the burner down. The pots have not scratched our glass top ranges. Glass lids are excellent. Food does not stick inside. They are made like pans costing 3x as much. The outsides of all items are non stick coated for easy clean up. They are made in Germany with a very high level of craftsmanship. Customer Rating: Summary: Money well spent Comment: We actually purchased this set about 3 years ago. I came across it here on Amazon and though I would take a second a write a review. This cookware is amazing! Cooks evenly, cleans up instantly, and after almost 3 years of use, it is still like brand new. Very heavy duty, strong non-stick coating, and will not warp like the cheap stuff. If you are considering a new cookware set, do not hesitate to purchase anything by Berndes, it is worth the money. Customer Rating: Summary: Great set Comment: I got this set for x-mas and it is fantastic. The 11" skillet has steep sides so it holds an entire meal, while the smaller skillet is perfect for eggs or small jobs. The stock pot works wonderfully for gumbo. I have not had anything burn with this set and clean up is as simple as warm water and a sponge. The glass lids all fit perfectly. I did have one lid handle that was attached backwards, but 5 seconds with a screwdriver fixed that. Must have been hitting the beer a bit heavy that morning in the factory :) The stuff is MASSIVE, so make sure you have large cabinets to store them and strong arms to lift them. I have dinged up the skillet a bit but the non-stick coating is thick enough so small scratches do not get through, so it still performs well. Compared to the thin, warped, scratched stainless and non-stick junk I had before, these pots and pans are just fantastic. I only gave them 4 stars because I don't have a lot of experience with high quality cookware and there could be something better out there, who knows? More Reviews 
Choosing Appliance -> Dishwasher Choose a dishwasher with sturdy compression springs in the door. Also look for tough, lightweight nylon or graphite racks with cushioned tips that protect glassware and cookware. Weimer recommends choosing a model with a rack design that provides the largest, most flexible interior space and is configured for your belongings, including odd-shaped pieces. Choosing Appliance -> Salad spinner While some may consider this a bit on the gadgety side, I think it is a must as dressings do not stick to water-logged salad greens. Kitchen tips -> Pineapple Do not use fresh pineapple in a salad that contains gelatin. The fresh pineapple contains an enzyme that will prevent the gelatin from setting. Use canned pineapple instead. |
