Customer Reviews of Lodge 13-Inch Splatter Screen
Customer Rating: Summary: Flimsy Comment: This thing is very flimsy at the point where the handle connects to the circle containing the screen. It seems so fragile, I'm almost afraid to use it. Maybe it will last but I'm not betting on it. My only consulation is that it was one of 4 for 3 promotion items so I can at least tell myself I got it for free. Customer Rating: Summary: Why spend the extra money Comment: This splatter screen certainly does the job, but there is nothing special about its construction. It is, of course, not cast iron like the rest of the Lodge line, and there is nothing that I can see that separates it from the much cheaper versions of this same product at my local big box store (Wal-Mart, Target, BB&Beyond, etc). Even Amazon's discount price is more than what I've seen this for locally. Customer Rating: Summary: every kitchen where frying is done MUST HAVE one of these Comment: I wish I had had this with me when I started cooking. It would have saved me a lot of criticism about technique. This worked beautifully when I was frying up burgers. In the moment it took me to grab it, I had a nice array of oil dots around the pan. I use this all the time. Customer Rating: Summary: Fabulous! Comment: This is one of the little items that makes a big difference. I am not a gadget person. I like a lean, clean kitchen. This splatter screen helps with the clean! I can't believe how well it works and how well it fits on any size pan. Get one...you'll love it! Customer Rating: Summary: The Lodge Brand Splatter Screen Rocks Comment: When I remember to use it, this splatter screen makes light work of cleaning off the stove. It is great. The screen is very fine and the larger size one covers our Farberware skillet perfectly. You can also use it on smaller things. It lets the air out and keeps the grease in. It washes quickly and easily. The grease doesn't cling to it at all. Only drawback: The handle seems flimsy. But people rave about Lodge products so I guess it'll be fine. I just won't abuse it in any way. We found a good storage place for it. Buy it not only because of its basic design and quality, but also because it's the least expensive of all the ones I looked at. More Reviews A necessity to protect you from splattering hot liquid while cooking. Manufactured of top quality 100 stainless steel and it s dishwasher safe! 13 inch diameter. Choosing Appliance -> Fridge / Freezers By law manufacturers must disclose the energy efficiency of their appliances, rated A to G. These are usually displayed prominently in showrooms. The better the rating, the more energy efficient the appliance is - good for both the environment and your pocket. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Lodge 13-Inch Splatter Screen Kitchen tips -> French fries When deep-frying french fries, do not overload the basket. Trying to cook too many at one time will result in greasy and soggy fries. |
