Customer Reviews of Emile Henry Provencal Cereal Bowls, Set of 2, Citron Yellow
Customer Rating: Summary: quality dishes Comment: Both my roommates and I love these bowls. They are just the right size for cereal but we also use them for ice cream, soup-like dishes, oatmeal, pasta, among pretty much anything else. Although large enough for cereal and snacks, it's a little on the small side for a traditional American sized meal, however, I prefer that -- I can always go back for seconds and it doesn't take up as much space. I wasn't sure I'd like the yellow color, however, I now prefer the color to some of the dishes with my typically preferred colors such as blue and green. I haven't made these bowls jump through all the hoops that they claim they can handle. I've run these through the dishwasher but haven't put it under the broiler or in a microwave, which is supposedly okay... I'm always hesitant to put anything but bakeware in the oven. These are made in France, not China (for those who are swayed by such things). I intend to pick up another pair of these on my next Amazon order of the same color: yellow. Customer Rating: Summary: Really nice dinnerware Comment: Have had Amazon ship 8 complete place settings and all delivered with no breakage. The sets are very nice, durable, bright colors, and large sized. Very happy with purchase. More Reviews Each of the two pleasingly rotund bowls in this set from Emile Henry's Provencal line features a simple rim band, saturated color on the outside, and a bright white interior. Measuring 5-3/4 by 3 inches, the multipurpose bowls are perfect not only for cereal but soup, ice cream, pudding, and much more. Provencal pieces come in a choice of several colors for mixing and matching, creating a contemporary table out of classic shapes. Renowned for their quality and durability, high-fired Emile Henry ceramics have been crafted in the Burgundy region of France since 1850. Even after years of use, the glossy, translucent glaze on Emile Henry stoneware won't discolor, crackle, or show utensil marks. The versatile ware can go directly from the freezer to the broiler, and is safe for the microwave, oven, and dishwasher. Each Emile Henry piece, individually inspected and stamped, is backed by a three-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier. Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking. Emile Henry Provencal Cereal Bowls, Set of 2, Citron Yellow Kitchen tips -> Chicken pieces When cooking chicken pieces, start with the dark pieces and then add the white chicken. The dark takes longer to cook than the white, so starting the dark first will assist in the white and dark getting done close to the same time |
