Customer Reviews of Pedrini Black and Satin Salad Spinner
Customer Rating: Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5Rating: 3/5
Summary: it works, but you can't use for small vegetables.
Comment: I had an OXO's smaller salad spinner, but it broke when I tried to wash the top part. I wanted bigger one and this one had a nice price, so I tried new brand. Here is my pros and cons with comparsion.

- Both spin well. OXO is easier. You can just push down. You have to hold the bowl firmly for Pedrini. I don't think it's hard, but it's some extra work.

- Pedrini's top is easier to dry. If you use OXO, have you ever check between the two layers of the top part? You might see black dirt or mold. (I don't have dish washer. I washed and dried manually.) It's impossible to wash inside.

- Pedrini's basket has bigger opened mesh. When I dry herbs, small green leaves, I have to collect some from between the bowl and the basket.

- Pedrini's basket's edge touches the bowl because it doesn't hold it horisontally. This means greens you just tried to dry touch the water. This didn't happen for OXO.

So, after all, I am not completely satisfied with Pedrini, but it's clean and works better than a strainer, I will keep using it. But next time I will buy something else.

Summary: Crispy dry lettuce rocks
Comment: It does a great job of spin drying leafy vegetables. Yum.

Summary: Works IF you are able to get it to close properly.
Comment: I have just used this spinner for the first time in a long while. Now I remember why I avoid it.

It is nearly impossible to get the top and spinning basket to mesh and at the same time get the top with the handle to fit onto the bottom part.

The very few times that all has gone together and stayed long enough to get a good grip on the bottom, the greens have come out nice and dry.

Otherwise it's an exercise in frustration!

I hope that mine is "defective" or something because otherwise I must say pass this one by and find a different design or model AND TEST IT IN A STORE before you buy it.

Summary: Pedrini Black & Satin Salad Spinner
Comment: The Pedrini salad spinner is a nice addition to a kitchen. The only problem is that the gears do get out of sync occasionally, but not to the point that it is unusable. It comes completely apart for easy cleaning.

Summary: NOT A WET LEAF IN THE CROWD!
Comment: The Pedrini Salad Spinner really gets them dry, and it's quicker than trying to do it with towels, actually does a better job. This is important if you're not going to use all the salad greens at once. They'll last a long time in the bottom drawer of the fridge if they're stored in a ziplock bag that is sealed tight, with the air squeezed out, and the leaves are dry. The lack of oxygen will slow their respiration; the cold will prevent wilt; and being dry will keep them from rotting.

Choosing Appliance -> Hobs
If you enjoy eastern cuisine, you can buy a speciality hob with a wok burner. Similarly if you are a BBQ fan, choose a BBQ grill. If you are left handed, go for front rather than right hand side controls as this eliminates the risk of reaching across the heat. If you cook for a large family, more than four rings may be useful, and if you have young children it may be worth considering paying a little extra for a hob guard or in the case of gas, choosing an automatic re-ignition or cut off device should the flame blow out.
Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers
Look for models with adjustable baskets and flexible internal layouts for varying load requirements. For example, a tilting upper basket allows large 30cm diameter plates in the lower basket and extra flaps can be raised or lowered to cater for small items or large pans.

Kitchen tips -> Potatoes
  • When selecting, choose potatoes that are nicely shaped and have smooth skins. Avoid any that have bruises or other blemishes, and any that have eyes that have begun to sprout.
  • Do not store potatoes close to onions. The onions will cause the potatoes to rot faster.
  • Place an apple in the bag with the potatoes to keep them from sprouting.
