Customer Reviews of Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer
Customer Rating: Summary: DON'T Bother Comment: I bough this one to replace my old one. LONG/SHORT..My old one works better. Debating returning it, but probably not worth the effort. Customer Rating: Summary: Pedrini Black & Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer - Great Slicer, but clean it well Comment: Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer I've been searching for one of these cheese slicers for a friend for about half a year. This slicer is a great value and offers a nice design. There are few things to keep in mind though. The handle is made out of a very solid black plastic, but some people just may not like that. For me it's no problem, but there is an OXO slicer that has a silver section down the middle that is a little more attractive OXO SteeL Cheese Plane. Also, the slicer from Anolon is made from what appears to be a solid piece of stainless steel with a rubber grip around the handle for a firmer more solid feel Anolon Cheese Slicer. Still, both of those slicers are $10 and this one is $7, making it a nicer value. The actual head on this guy is somewhat wide and designed to take a standard cheddar block. Still, I like to cut at an angle to get slivers of cheese instead. The blade comes attached to the paper housing with a thick glue band at the cutting blade. This glue is VERY hard to remove. I suppose solvents might help, but I didn't want to use anything like that. So I soaked this guy in soapy water for a while and used a scrub sponge several times to remove the residue. It took 4 passes before I removed enough of that stuff to feel comfortable enough to use this on food. I will agree that for some strange reason these are very hard to find in stores. For some reason, they mostly sell those wire cheese slicers which just don't seem sturdy enough for thick cheese and are also harder to clean. This is a great slicer and at a great price. Just clean it well and you'll have no problems. Enjoy! Customer Rating: Summary: Easiest Cheese-Slicing Tool on the Market! Comment: Easiest cheese-slicing tool I've found! It slices perfect square blocks with little effort. Bought as a Christmas gift for mom! Customer Rating: Summary: Cheese slicer Comment: The easiest way to slice cheese for crackers. My husband used one at a friend's house and wanted one. Very hard to find in stores. I ordered 2 and now he is very happy. Love the way it slices thin and just enough to put on a cracker. Customer Rating: Summary: Very good! Comment: It works great. My only problem with it is that it comes with an adhesive protective band and it takes forever to be able to take the glue off the slicer. More Reviews Black & Satin collection combines Pedrini's trademark of innovative design with superior function / Soft ergonomic handles for comfort and safety Choosing Appliance -> Salad spinner While some may consider this a bit on the gadgety side, I think it is a must as dressings do not stick to water-logged salad greens. Choosing Appliance -> Grater In our opinion, the old fashioned box graters work the best since they are sturdy and offer several different grating sizes. Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Stainless Steel Maintenance Wipe away any acid spills such as from vinegar or grapefruit straight away. Never clean the bowl or draining board with an abrasive cleaner. Instead use liquid detergent in warm water and wipe with a soft cloth to remove water drop marks. Care for stainless steel appliance fascias and cabinet fronts in the same way. If choosing stainless steel cabinets, a 'brushed' surface is less likely to show grease from finger marks. |
