The other "feature" I like is that with the ring on the bottom, you can hang this scale up. The bowl won't stay on of course, but it's nice to clear up some shelf space. This is my second Soehnle scale. I contacted the company because the battery life seemed short. They suggested I send it in, e-mailed me when they got it, and sent me a new one in two weeks -- and included the platform from my old scale that I could use on this one. I'd buy their products for the rest of my life based on this experience. I think this is why you want a premium kitchen instrument. Have had it for over a year and use if quite often. Side by side the only difference is the platform. Do you want a bowl or do you want to measure into your own container? The stainless-steel bowl is large enough to hold plenty of product. The bowl sits on a ring attached to the scale itself. The scale has a digital readout and a single button on the front. The button turns the scale on or sets the tare amount. Need to weigh multiple products, weigh the first item, hit the button to reset to zero and weigh the next product. The scale is also easy to clean, and well sealed from moisture. The only major problem I find with this scale is that the switch to change from ounces to grams is located in the battery compartment requiring a tool to slide the switch. As a chef and international traveler, I have recipes that provide weights in grams, and I also have recipes that have weights in ounces. A more accessible switch would be advantageous for changing the measurement units. This is the only reason I could not rate this scale a 5. PROS: Attractive modern appearance Accurate and easy to use CONS: The switch to set ounces vs. grams is inconvenient to set. Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Stainless Steel Maintenance Wipe away any acid spills such as from vinegar or grapefruit straight away. Never clean the bowl or draining board with an abrasive cleaner. Instead use liquid detergent in warm water and wipe with a soft cloth to remove water drop marks. Care for stainless steel appliance fascias and cabinet fronts in the same way. If choosing stainless steel cabinets, a 'brushed' surface is less likely to show grease from finger marks. |
