The Soehnle Mara scale features a square, chic design that looks right at home in modern kitchens. Made of durable, lightweight plastic, the scale weighs items up to 4 pounds 6 ounces (2 kg) in 0.05-ounce (1 g) increments, either directly on the platform or with the use of any bowl or plate. A round indentation on the platform is perfectly sized to hold a Soehnle bowl (not included), and keeps small items such as nuts and herbs contained. This model is identical in looks to the Soehnle Lena, which includes a bowl and has a higher weighing capacity. Easy one-button operation turns the scale on and off and resets the readout to zero after a bowl or any ingredient is added. With this convenient add-and-weigh feature, only one bowl is needed for measuring a host of different ingredients. A switch on the back sets the mode to either metric or imperial. Made in Switzerland, the scale measures 5-1/2 by 5-1/2 by 1-3/4 inches; the digital display protrudes another 2-1/2 inches. Kitchen tips -> Onion To produce good tasting, crisp onions, slice or chop onions and place them in a bowl. Cover the onions with water and then add some ice to the water. Let the onions soak for 15 minutes to an hour and then drain before serving |
