Customer Rating:  Summary: Best Digital Food Scale Period! Comment: I've been through all the usual suspects with kitchen scales. The Portion Powers, Weight Watchers, you name it. This one has them beat in every conceivable way. It arrives at the weight much faster, it's Tare feature is immediate and it's extremely accurate. The best part is, I've had mine for 10 years and I just replaced the battery for the first time last year! It also weighs in Grams and you can switch back and forth at will. It also doesn't shut off pre-maturely like my Portion Power had a tendency to do. Very frustrating to be weighing several ingredients in the same bowl and then having the scale shut off to save the permanent battery they come installed with. Since the Soehlne comes with replaceable lithium batteries, it gives you all the time you need. Even so, the lithium batteries last for a decade even with fairly regular use. It's one of the best looking food scales you will ever see in a Kitchen. The pictures here don't do it justice. This is a top of the line, very reliable appliance. I'm so happy with mine I felt compelled to come in here and throw down a good review for it, even though I bought mine ten years ago from another store! Choosing Appliance -> Do I need a dishwasher? If you enjoy washing by hand, no! However modern machines use less water, detergent and power than ever before and wash hotter using really powerful cleaners giving a hygienic wash result. You can save around 500 hours a year so it is worth thinking about. If you have a small kitchen or live alone, choose a slimline model. Choosing Appliance -> Whip / Whisk Many still consider a whip as a "gourmet" piece of kitchen equipment. Nothing could be further from the truth. It is as essential as a kitchen stove and should be in everyone's kitchen. Nothing works better for mixing a multitude of different preparations or for making sauces or gravy. Buy a solid stainless steel whip with moderately stiff wires. Very thin wires are for mixing delicate things like egg whites or whipped cream. Very thick, solid wires are for mixing stiff dough. Kitchen tips -> Mixing batter When mixing batter for pancakes, muffins or cupcakes, mix the batter in a large liquid measuring cup with a spout. This will make it easier to pour the batter into muffin tins or pancake batter onto a hot griddle. |
