Customer Reviews of Eastman Outdoors 37220 Stainless Steel Skimmer
Customer Rating: Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5
Summary: SS Skimmer
Comment: Good kitchen tool but the 14" handle is a bit too long. It should be 3" shorter.

Customer Rating: Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5Rating: 4/5
Summary: Very happy with this tool
Comment: This tool is very good for removing pasta from water and other small foods from both cooking oil and water. My only problem is that the mesh is so small it takes a long time for the water/oil to actually drain from the skimmer.

More Reviews With an 8-in metal mesh screen, the Eastman Outdoors® wok skimmer can easily be used for lift out pasta, wontons, ravioli, and tortellini from boiling water or fried foods from hot oil.

Choosing Appliance -> Hobs
If you enjoy eastern cuisine, you can buy a speciality hob with a wok burner. Similarly if you are a BBQ fan, choose a BBQ grill. If you are left handed, go for front rather than right hand side controls as this eliminates the risk of reaching across the heat. If you cook for a large family, more than four rings may be useful, and if you have young children it may be worth considering paying a little extra for a hob guard or in the case of gas, choosing an automatic re-ignition or cut off device should the flame blow out.
Choosing Appliance -> Fridge / Freezers
A large number of freezers have eliminated defrosting by continually circulating the air inside the freezer compartment, thus avoiding frost build-up -- a feature well worth paying a little extra for.

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Heat
Rather than cause accidental heat-damage, prevent such damage in the first place:
  • Always use a heat protection pad or trivet (with rubber feet) for hot cookware, or leave cookware to cool on the hob first. Never put hot pans, particularly cast iron. Such heat can damage any surface!
  • If you must put a hot pan on the base of a sink use a protective sink mat, sponge, or cloth beneath. It is best to leave the utensil to cool slightly first, or put a few inches of cool water in the sink before the pan.
  • Avoid pouring boiling liquids directly into sinks without turning on the cold tap as well.
