Customer Reviews of Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Square Grill Pan
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome grill pan! Comment: I received my pan last week, and have made grilled chicken fajitas with a grilled corn relish as well as making grilled salmon burgers just now. Getting the timing of the chicken was pretty tricky, but the flavor was great. I wasn't at all sure if I could grill the corn on the cob, but it went off without a hitch. Today's salmon burgers was sort of an ultimate test since they're made with chopped salmon, panko crumbs, chives, etc. so I was leery of flipping them over without them falling apart. I used my large and very thin flipper, and it worked beautifully. My only complaint thus far was in the cleaning process after the chicken fajitas since they had a garlic and lime juice marinade, and the stuff pretty much melded to the pan. Afterwords, I started thinking that I don't think you're supposed to cook acidic foods in cast iron, so maybe that was part of my problem. Still, by far one of the most treasured skillets in my kitchen. Customer Rating: Summary: The only one to buy Comment: Works beautifully and gets better with every use. All the other brands are Chinese junk. Some of them even cost more so why buy them? If you don't have a real grill (or if the weather is bad) these are the next best thing. Customer Rating: Summary: Great pan! Comment: This is my second Lodge cast iron pan and I'm very happy with it. It grills both vegetables and meats well. Cleans easily. Pre-seasoning is a great feature. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Pan! Comment: I purchased one for myself and have since purchased two more for a wedding gift and a birthday gift. This gift will last forever and can be handed down for generations to come! I absolutely love mine! Customer Rating: Summary: Goodbye, Foreman Grill! Comment: I love, love, love this pan! It has replaced my George Foreman Grill (sorry, George). It is much easier to clean and I believe the food is much tastier, not so dry. More Reviews The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require "seasoning." To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. Even if you treasure fond memories of eggs and pancakes cooked in grandmother's ancient, blackened skillet, you might have no idea how to turn your new pan into such a treasure. Fortunately Lodge has come out with the new Logic line, which has been evenly coated on all surfaces with an electrostatic spray of vegetable oil. Next the cookware is put into an extremely high temperature industrial oven which bakes the coating into the surface. Not only will you be spared the time and effort of seasoning, but also the new piece you buy will look and perform better than if you had seasoned it at home. Just like that heirloom pan you will find that even pineapple upside down cake doesn't stick to this surface. The ribbed bottom of this pan allows grease to puddle away from what you're cooking, all the while making those desirable stripes across fish, beast, or fowl. Choosing Appliance -> Range Cookers The way you cook is also key to deciding which type of range cooker to choose. No-frills heat storage ranges such as Agas retain heat they have gradually built up and generally have two ovens without temperature controls - the hot oven is for roasting and baking, the cool one for slow cooking/keeping warm. Choosing Appliance -> Ovens Most avid bakers prefer separate, even-heat double electric ovens. If that describes you - and you have the space - be sure one of the ovens is equipped with a broiler that provides at least 3,000 watts of cooking power. Also look for racks that pull all the way out and lock in place for safe, easy access to the oven. On the inside, a dark interior shows less baked-on grime, while a porcelain interior is easier to clean Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Square Grill Pan Useful info -> Is the top or bottom element going to perform the self-cleaning cycle? Some ovens only use the top element and others only use the bottom one. Better designed ovens use the bottom element. The reason for this is that most grease spills and splatters (soil) will accumulate on the sides and the floor of the cavity - not on the ceiling (where the broiler is located) and therefore, the element that is the closest to these soiled areas should be the one to work the strongest in order to bake off the soil. |
