It has an easy, effortless, and very smooth cutting action. It works beautifully. The blade must be pretty sharp to do that. Definitely a high quality tool. I love luxury. Comment: Having used Oxo's reliable, ever-sharp Good Grips potato peelers for more than ten years, I decided to buy Oxo's I-Series Y Peeler when my wrists began to grow weaker. Using Oxo's Y Peeler this morning, I prepared a rutabaga effortlessly without a wrist twinge. Those hard, waxy peelings rolled off my rutabaga as if I were using a safety razor to shave my legs. The feather-light wrist actions required to use this vegetable peeler are identical. Until the holidays, I'll use it as an neat cheese slicer, and for grating hard chocolate blocks. It's a perfectly-designed, ergonomic, multi-use kitchen tool! I would even recommend it for use by stroke or accident victims who gamely share in family cooking chores, when they have one usuable hand and an opposite, steadying wrist or elbow. I like the rubber on the handle; keeps my hand from slipping. This is a good product, I just enjoy the design of the i-Series swivel peeler better. Customer Rating: Summary: Nice Unit! Comment: I really enjoy using this peeler. I also have the OXO straight peeler. The clear plastic guard that is provided should be supplied by the gross! It is too easy to misplace on a granite surface. Otherwise, it does a splendid job peeling virtually anything. I haven't tried it on butternut squash as yet. That will be the proof of the pudding. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Little Tool Comment: My sister got me a slew of OXO items as a gift for my birthday and my new remodled kitchen. I LOVE this peeler. I can't believe I have been using the piece of junk I had all these years. This one makes light of peeling anything. I love it, it's totally worth the money. More Reviews A peeler's only as good as its blade, right? So OXO, with its clever design team, developed a blade that can always be sharp. Not only is the cutting edge on their extra long stainless blade precision ground, like a fine knife, for a sharper edge, it's also replaceable. And of course you get the non-slip comfy grip you expect from an OXO tool.

Kitchen tips -> Carving meat Before carving meat, allow it to stand for 10 to 15 minutes after removing from the heat source to allow the juices to be redistributed through the meat. The standing period will result in firmer, juicier meat and will make carving easier. |
