Customer Rating:  Summary: LOVE IT Comment: Ok, I have owned no less than 4 vacuums in as many years. I am too cheap to pay $500 for a "nice" one (so I have paid more than $1000 over the years for cheap, inefficient ones). My mother has a 15 year old Eletrolux that will still suck the color out of the carpet!! I decided I would break down and buy one. Still being as cheap as I am, I found a refurb Aptitude for around $130 with a two year warranty. The suction is great, I love the weight and the feel of the vacuum. The cleaning tools work wonderful. While there are features on my mom's older vacuum that are better (e.i. it will lie flat on the floor to clean under furniture), the cleaning power of this one is very comparible. Will it still be this great 15 years from now? Probably not, but there aren't many things made today that are comparible in quality to the past. For now, ten months later, it is as good as day one! Obviously the bad reviewers have never owned a Hoover, Dirt Devil, or Bissle...BELEIVE ME...I paid more for them and was dissatisfied from the start. Customer Rating: Summary: Great product - great price Comment: We now own two of these vacuums - one for each floor of our house. We've had our first one for a couple of years now and recently bought our second. We haven't had a single problem with them (and my wife vacuum's the carpet every day). This vacuum is light and easy to push - without the worry of a self-propelled system breaking down on you. This vacuum has a very strong suction power and does an excellent job at keeping the carpet clean. The bag is easy to access and change. The quality of this product is much better than a Hoover Windtunnel which we replaced. I highly recommend it! Customer Rating:  Summary: Worst Vacumn I have ever owned Comment: I purchased this vacumn from Sam's. Everybody told me that this was a good brand. Two weeks after I purchased this vacumn the handle came loose because of the extremely heavy weight. I tried to fix the handle but could not.I have had less than 6 months now and I have had to put duct tape on the handle to keep it together. Also the cord does not have anything to hang on. the little hooks just don,t work. I paid more than $300.00 for this vacumn and I will probably just throw it away. Please listen to me and don'r but this vacumn. Very unhappy. Customer Rating: Summary: I love it! Comment: I owned a bagless vacuum before and just recently bought the Aptitude. I will NEVER own a bagless vacuum again as they are very messy and dirty. I love my new Aptitude though. It has much more power than the bagless(Bissell)I owned before. I own a rottweiler and he is constantly shedding but the Aptitude picks up his hair no problem; unlike the bagless, I spent about 10 min. vacuuming to get the hair out in just one little bedroom! Also, it is very smoothe and easy to operate. NOt hard to push around like my clunky old vacuum. Anyway, I'm very happy with it and while its not a "true" Electrolux, it works for me just fine! I do notice that if you don't change the bag when it's getting full it makes a funky smell, kind of smells like old doritos. I thought the air filter would stop the smells but hey it gets the job done you just have to change the bag when you start to smell the funk. Kitchen tips -> Chopping and Mincing When you want to finely chop foods such as: onions, garlic, parsley, or other items, pivot your knife by keeping the tip of the knife on the cutting surface at all times and hold the knife at an angle, about 95' angle, towards the hand holding the tip. This way, you use the blade to push and keep the food particles down, thus making them easier to chop. If the knife should slip, then the sharp side of the blade will slide away from where you're working, and away from your other hand and fingers. In addition, you make less noise, as compared to when raising and lowering the knife of the cutting surface trying to mince foods. |
