Customer Rating:  Summary: Amazon sent me "used" merchandise Comment: This comment is not about the quality of Corelle because I absolutely love the Corelle line. I just wanted to comment that my purchase was for a brand new Amazon.com Corelle Winter White set of dishes. When I opened the shipping box I couldn't help but notice that the Corelle box had been previously opened and the merchandise had been redistributed in the box. Even the Corelle box itself had been weirdly re-taped. Why would Amazon.com send me this kind of merchandise. This was not purchased from an Amazon third party marketplace vendor. This was purchased from Amazon.com What if this was supposed to be a gift? How embarassing would that be. I'd have to run out and re-purchase another set. So, for the record, I love Corelle. It's just the new Amazon.com used merchandise situation that I am not thrilled with. Customer Rating:  Summary: Basic and Functional Comment: These dishes, while not impressive, are exactly what they are meant to be, functional, attractive (enough), and cheap. As a single guy in a small apt they ended u being exactly what I needed, no more, no less. Customer Rating: Summary: recommend it Comment: I am very satisfied with my purchase, it was cheap, it's not plastic, the bowls have the right size for me and the design is very simple and modern. I received everything in a good shape (even the glasses!). I think I put them once or twice in the dishwasher and I had no problem but I'm usually washing everything by hand so don't take my word on that. That's very pleasant to have non plastic dish. So far so good! ( It's been 5 or 6 weeks now I've been using them) Customer Rating: Summary: Just better . . . Comment: Several things were irritating us about our stoneware . . . - The kids couldn't lift our dishes very easily - The dishes filled our cupboards very quickly, even when stacked - A dropped dish was always a cracked or chipped dish, and a risk to little toes These dishes, on the other hand . . . - We can stack 8 plates where 3 stoneware dishes used to sit - The bowls nest perfectly and all 8 that we bought take up one small cupboard spot - Our kids can very easily grab a dish or bowl out of the cupboard - They even slide against each other more easily - You can reach into the dishwasher and pull out 4 or 5 of these at a time - These seem to be darn near unbreakable - These seem to get cleaner, maybe because our dishwasher has more room? - These haven't changed in 25 years and are sold everywhere as single pieces One piece of advice - the glasses that came with this set are nice, unsurprising glasses. The mugs that came with our other set, on the other hand, didn't match (they were kind of off whitish) and weren't even very well made. Customer Rating: Summary: Classic dishes - never out of style! Comment: I grew up on Corelle, and was happy to find it so reasonably priced at AZ. Ordered 4 boxes, and only one arrived with the dreaded "crunching" sound ... turns out the only casualty was a single drinking glass, which I wasn't planning to use anyway. The dishes themselves are superb! I went round and round on pattern, but decided on plain white as classic and clean. I plan to use these for a LONG time, and didn't want to get bored with dots or flowers. The white set also has the most economical additional pieces - frequently available at local "big box" retailers for a lot less than online. Bottom line, these are durable, classic dishes that will hold up to years and years of use. Well proportioned, and easy to maintain - Corelle is a winner! Choosing Appliance -> Fridge / Freezers Added features such as ice making and drinks dispensers can all add to the appeal of certain models. Ice making is an option on many American style fridge-freezers, sometimes available without opening the door, as are cold water dispensers. Zoned models offer several storage areas, all at different temperatures, designed to keep a variety of foods fresh for longer. Most manufacturers now offer adjustable shelf heights and storage units which simplify food storage. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening!
