Customer Reviews of Portmeirion Holly and Ivy Teacup and Saucer, Traditional Shape
Customer Rating: Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5Rating: 1/5
Summary: This is NOT a set of six as described!
Comment: This is not the great deal you think it is. It is neither 88% off, nor is it a set of six, as advertised.

I ordered this set with the understanding that I was buying a set on sale/clearance. As described for me:

"List Price: $210.00; Price: $26.25; You Save: $183.75 (88%)"
"Set of 6 teacups and matching saucers; 7-ounce capacity..."
"Product Dimensions: 13.2 x 8.4 x 5.2 inches ; 5.6 pounds..."
"ASIN: B0000UUTK6"
"Product Description -- Amazon.com Review -- Sit back and relax on a crisp winter's evening while enjoying a flavorful tea out of this set of 6 teacups and matching saucers.."

When my order came, however, I only received ONE of the six cups/saucers. Barrons claims that the posted product and pricing is Amazon's error. When I contacted them, they wouldn't take any responsibility for the "error". Their solution was to take the one teacup back and pay for return shipping.

As a customer looking to start collecting this set, I was rather turned off my experience with Barrons. Pointing the finger at someone else and not taking responsibility is rather poor customer service. If they don't mean to offer this kind of a sale, they need to take the time to review Web pages before they make their content "live." I'm amazed to see that the same "errors" are still showing, even though Barrons is aware of the issue.

My transaction with Barrons was a huge waste of time and I'm sad to say I'll be giving my business to another Portmeirion dealer.

More Reviews Sit back and relax on a crisp winter's evening while enjoying a flavorful tea out of this set of 6 teacups and matching saucers. White with rich red and green holly and ivy, the platter's center is ringed with the lyrics to an ancient English carol: The holly and the ivy, when they are both full grown, of all the trees that are in the woods the holly bears the crown. Each teacup holds 7-ounces of tea or coffee and features a sweetly scooped handle to comfortably cradle your finger around while sipping.

Portmeirion's Holly and Ivy pattern was designed by second-generation Portmeirion designer Anwyl Cooper-Willis in 1996 as a contemporary arrangement of antique illustrations with a flowing script of a lyric from the 17th Century English carol it's named after. The design and script are hand-painted on high-quality earthenware, and both pieces are safe in the freezer, microwave, and dishwasher--making clean-up a breeze. They can also be placed in the oven and heated gradually up to 340 degrees F. Match with any Holly and Ivy piece, or coordinate with the Botanic Garden collection. --Jeff Dalto

Choosing Appliance -> Stainless steel bowls
These are the best all purpose bowls for a multitude of applications. Choose a wide range of sizes (be sure to get a large bowl for whipping egg whites and whipped cream). In general, the heavier the bowl, the higher quality.
Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens
Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans.

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Cleaning & Maintenance Oven
Never use a scouring pad of any sort to remove stubborn stains or soiled areas, since these pads scratch the finish and any future soiled areas won't clean up as well, especially with the self-cleaning models. When the oven is cool to the touch, place a cloth or sponge, dampened with warm to hot tap water, onto the soiled area and allow it to sit, for about ten minutes or so, to help loosen the soil.
