Customer Reviews of Salter 11-Pound Square Stainless-Steel Digital Kitchen Scale
Customer Rating: Summary: not accurate Comment: I liked the style and ease of use of this scale but it was inaccurate - it showed 4 gms over true weight -- not accurate enough for me and it also seemed to be inconsistent at times. I returned it and purchased a Chefmate stainless steel kitchen scale at Target for $39.99 which I love. It has all the same features - weighs up to 11 lbs and measures in increments of 1 g/.1 oz/1 ml. It also has the tare feature. It is has been very consistent and is more accurate. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Comment: I had purchased this item many years ago. When new batteries would not revive it, I wanted the same scale because it had been excellent. When I received this one, I was initially pleased, however after several days it stopped working. When I inserted NEW batteries, it was fine. Seems strange that a new product was shipped with old or defective batteries. Customer Rating: Summary: Cheap Comment: I purchased a $25 Escali scale that had been rated fairly high on Amazon, but I found that it looked pretty cheap when I received it. I decided I wanted something that would look better in my kitchen, so I exchanged it and paid twice the price for this Salter, which seemed like it might be a good fit given the reviews and pictures. The Salter does look a little better, but not by a lot. It uses a similar cheap plastic for its base. The metal measuring surface is a thin layer of sheet metal that does a lot to hide the plastic and improve the overall look of the device, but on my unit the glue binding metal to plastic was starting to come undone. The overall feel of the device was cheap. In addition, it uses button batteries instead of something you're more likely to keep stocked around the house. I return the Salter and purchased the Oxo, which appears to be better than the Salter in every way. They're both the same price, the Oxo is higher quality, looks better, the screen is more informative, and it takes regular batteries. Customer Rating: Summary: Weigh To Go... Comment: This is a nice Just Works product-- you put batteries in it, and it Just Works. The square shape fits neatly into a cabinet (on edge) to minimize storage space while maximizing access. Make sure that it is sitting on its little feet on a flat surface, and you will get excellent results. Customer Rating: Summary: Stainless-Steel Digital Kitchen Scale Comment: The Salter 11 Pound Square Stainless-Steel Digital Kitchen Scale is beautifully designed. It is very compact and can be easily stored in a small kitchen. It is also easy to use and accurate. More Reviews Salter 1004SSDR 11 LB Scale Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Mixer Pretty much the same thoughts as the food processor. High quality mixers are great for making bread or other tough jobs. Every kitchen should have one. Be sure that any mixer has all three attachments: paddle, dough hook, and whip. Also, find a spot on the counter where it can be easily accessed at a moment's notice. Salter 11-Pound Square Stainless-Steel Digital Kitchen Scale Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Natural Granite Maintenance Granite must not be rubbed with abrasive materials instead, wash with clean warm water to which a non-abrasive light neutral detergent (PH7) may be added. Rinse with clean warm water and dry with a chamois leather or similar. Drainer Grooves can be cleaned using wire wool. |
