Customer Reviews of Salter 5-Pound Microtronic Kitchen Scale, White
Customer Rating: Summary: Microtronic Scale review Comment: Love it, only improvement I can think of is to have it 'turn-on' in the ounce mode. Customer Rating: Summary: LOVE this scale! Comment: I absolutely love this scale! It is so easy to use. The feature of putting a bowl on the scale before turning it on makes for true weighing of food without including the weight of the bowl. I use it every day. Can't go wrong with this one. Customer Rating: Summary: defective Comment: This product arrived defective. I spoke to the company and after attempting a fix, they told me to return it. Can't say anymore. Customer Rating: Summary: Cannot replace batteris Comment: I've owned this scale for three years, and it funtioned well until the batteries quit. The case shows that it will open, but only if you have a triangle tipped screwdriver. I went to the Salter website to see if there was a tool available, but the website is down. According to the Google cache display, the site has been down all month. This piece of equipment is an exercise in futility, and I'm off to shop for a brand that has a working battery case. Customer Rating: Summary: great! very useful product Comment: I am a powerlifter/ bodybuilder and nutrition is equally as important as time spent in the gym to recover from training. I bought this food scale primarily to weigh meats to know exactly how much protein I was getting out of a particular cut of meat. Whereas I had to eyeball and guess before, know I know exactly. Of course, as a weight trainer, I am gaining weight, but I am sure someone looking to loose weight can use the scale for portion control, as well. Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Salter 5-Pound Microtronic Kitchen Scale, White Useful info -> Self-Cleaning Ovens Store measuring cups, mixing bowls and other items used together in the same place. Duplicate frequently used items like cutting boards, knives and dish towels in each work area. Keep two containers - one at the baking center, the other at the range - for wooden spoons, spatulas and other cooking basics. And try to store every item at its first point of use. Keep the saute pan near the range, and stow pasta pots near the sink. |
