Customer Reviews of Salter 5-Pound Add and Weigh Kitchen Scale with Jug, White
Customer Rating: Summary: Nifty, small and accurate kitchen scale Comment: I have a small kitchen so I can't afford kitchen items that are seldom used but take up space. Recently I got some cookbooks from the UK and they have quite a few measurements by weight, making a scale necessary. This scale was inexpensive, had good reviews, and seemed like a low risk purchase. In fact, I am very pleased. It's lightweight, easily stored on a high shelf, and accurate enough for normal cooking and baking purposes. (Probably not enough for weighing out grams of saffron or the like.) Customer Rating: Summary: Simple to use/Handy bowl/Great price Comment: This scale is simple to use, was inexpensive, and I have found that I use the handled bowl all the time as a mixing/pouring bowl - a bonus! I would definitely recommend it! Customer Rating: Summary: A Handy Device Comment: This handy scale takes the guesswork out of ingredient weights in the kitchen. I particularly like the movable measuring ring; it allows the setting of tare weight instantly and makes weighing the subsequent additions a snap. Customer Rating: Summary: Very handy scales! Comment: I love these scales! They're easy to use, and have the benefit of having both imperial and metric measurements. Also, the jug is microwave and dishwasher safe, virtually indestructible, and can be used for a multitude of other tasks, such as making porridge or sauces in the microwave, mixing ingredients, etc. I also use mine to collect juice from my juicer. The scales also take up very little storage space as when not in use, the jug will sit upside down on the scales, to serve as a cover. More Reviews Useful for measuring fluid or dry ingredients, this anolog scale has a maximum capacity of 5 pounds or 2.2 kilograms of ingredients in precise 1-ounce or 25-gram increments. The scale comes with a large plastic mixing jug with high sides for stirring batters or ingredients, measuring in the same container, and pouring into a baking dish via the convenient spout. The interior sides of the calibrated jug are marked with measurements in cups, liters, pints, and fluid ounces so the jug can also be used as a measuring cup. The jug is microwave-safe for melting butter or warming milk and dishwasher-safe for easier cleaning. An add and weigh function lets cooks continue to add ingredients while the bowl is on a scale and the scale still produces accurate results. Cooks can even weigh ingredients individually without removing any items from the bowl by simply resetting the dial to zero and placing new ingredients in the bowl. For compact storage, the jug flips over and fits neatly over the scale. Salter guarantees this scale for 5 years from the date of purchase. --Cristina Vaamonde Choosing Appliance -> Taps If you want a sink with large bowl dimensions to cope with big-pan washing-up, it is worth considering a tap with a pull-out or pull-down spray rinse. This gives you water anywhere you need it around the bowl area. Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier.
