More on this product: Editorial Review | Description
International Silver Grande Regency (Sterling, 1969) is a versatile pattern that will work with a wide range of decors. Other serving and accessory pieces may be available, complete (or start) your pattern today! International Silver started as a combination of 14 of America's greatest silver manufacturers. During the Colonial period, the predominant form of silverware was pewter. In 1847, Rogers Brothers introduced a line of "electroplated" silver pieces. The formula for producing a durable, plated flatware had taken many years to perfect. Meriden Britannia and Rogers Brothers, decided that it would be to the advantage of all to organize a cartel of silverware manufacturers and to share industry secrets and in 1898, 14 silver producers merged into one corporation. The merger of 1898 proved to be efficient and successful. But it wasn't until 1939-1940, when International Silver introduced the Joan of Arc and Prelude lines that the company's sales began to increase. In 1968, International Silver was absorbed into the Insilco holding company. In 1976, the making of sterling hollowware was completely discontinued and International Silver's plated hollowware division was sold to Onieda. Both Wallace and International are now owned by the Syratech corporation. Choosing Appliance -> Spoons Buy stainless spoons (both slotted and non-slotted) which are solid and won't bend no matter how tough the job. Also, buy several high quality wooden spoons for stirring delicate dishes like risotto (the sharp edge of a metal spoon would cut or bruise the rice). Choosing Appliance -> Grater In our opinion, the old fashioned box graters work the best since they are sturdy and offer several different grating sizes. Kitchen tips -> |
