Customer Reviews of Emile Henry Provencal Individual Pasta Bowls, Set of 2, Cerise Red
Customer Rating: Summary: The William Morris edict Comment: If we are to "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful" (pace William Morris), then these bowls belong, under one species or the other. And, for Emile Henry-philes like me, under both. The bowls won't go with everything. Except for the blues and the brown, Emile Henry colors and heft demand to be set among similarly strong colors and heavy pieces. But they're cheerful in every season and they won't slide around as you chase down that last strand of spaghetti. Sturdiness is one of the qualities I admire most about Emile Henry pieces. Although I have other bowls and plates and serving pieces, these are the longest wearing. They accept rough treatment from the dishwasher and from being jostled around in the cupboards. They tolerate long distance moves (and movers!). And they take the insults of daily use without showing a sign of wear. These bowls are no exception to the high standard of other Emile Henry pieces. I recommend them. Customer Rating: Summary: Pasta bowls Comment: I love these bowls which can be used for soup ceral pasta or what ever they and thick, heavy, pretty and the size is terific. More Reviews Well-made and good-looking, these Provencal pasta bowls from Emile Henry provide ideal shape and depth for forking up linguine, tortellini, or farfalle. Their coupe form is also suitable for large servings of cereal, soup, salad, or ice cream. Easily stacked and safe in the dishwasher, the bowls can go directly from the freezer to the oven and are also suitable for the broiler and microwave. This versatility lets you also use them as little baking dishes, perfect for one-person entrées or two-person side dishes. A set of two, they measure 7-1/2 inches in diameter and stand 2-1/4 inches high. Since 1850, Emile Henry has been crafting superior Provencal bakeware and tableware at a factory in Marcigny, France. Using high-quality Burgundy clay, an excellent material for its heat transfer and retention properties, Provencal dishes are perfectly suited to preparing and serving food. In addition, Emile Henry's special surface treatment ensures that their glossy glaze is scratch-resistant and does not chip, crack, or craze under typical use. Each piece of Provencal bakeware or tableware is individually inspected, comes in a variety of fresh primary colors, and includes a three-year warranty against defects. --Emily Bedard Choosing Appliance -> Ovens Most avid bakers prefer separate, even-heat double electric ovens. If that describes you - and you have the space - be sure one of the ovens is equipped with a broiler that provides at least 3,000 watts of cooking power. Also look for racks that pull all the way out and lock in place for safe, easy access to the oven. On the inside, a dark interior shows less baked-on grime, while a porcelain interior is easier to clean Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Washer When shopping for a new washer, look for a front loading (horizontal-axis) machine. This machine may cost more to buy but uses about a third of the energy and less water than a top-loading machine. With a front loader, you'll also save more on clothes drying, because they remove more water from your clothes during the spin cycle. Look for the Energy Star label.
