Customer Reviews of Libbey 16-Piece Polaris Glassware Set
Customer Rating: Summary: glass Comment: These glasses are exactly what I wanted. I love them. They are solid. I ordered two sets, and they both arrived quickly and intact. I showed them to my sister to get her opinion, and she said that they are beautiful. I like it that they are dishwasher safe. They go with anything from everyday dishes to fine china, and they match my silverware. They're stylish, elegant, substantial, and very low priced. Customer Rating: Summary: Great glasses! Comment: I bought these for my office and like them so much, I am buying a set for home. I love the heaviness and the design. They are less than 25% of the cost of the ones I bought at Williams and Sonoma and definitely just as nice. Customer Rating: Summary: Needed some glassware Comment: I needed new glassware to replace what was left of my old set. The Libbey 16-piece Polaris glassware set turned out to be just what I wanted. I really liked the weight and feel of the glasses. My only complaint is that one of the glasses had a slight defect. It was so minor though that I didn't ask for a replacement. Customer Rating: Summary: Nice quality for the price Comment: I bought this set because of the great reviews and the low price. When I walked into a Linen and Things a few days later and saw some of the light weight glasses at similar prices, I got nervous that I had maybe ordered a cheap set of glasses. I was so pleasantly surprised when I opened the box - these Libbey glasses feel very solid and sturdy, and are nice looking as well. All in all they're a classy and elegant set of glasses that don't look like they cost $20. (Nice bonus is that so far I don't notice any water spots on them after they're dried.) Customer Rating: Summary: very nice Comment: I just got them today. Put them in the dishwasher. Water does not sit on the bottom of them. Nice simple design. I decided to get the gobblets also very nice. More Reviews Take the edge off with the Libbey Polaris 16-pc. glassware set. The unique, thick base of each tumbler appears to be completely round but is stabilized underneath with a discreet flat bottom. The 16-pc. set includes eight 16.25-oz. coolers and eight 12.25-oz. double old-fashioned glasses. Dishwasher safe. Not recommended for use in the microwave. Made in USA. Choosing Appliance -> Spatulas Buy a sturdy stainless spatula for general uses and a Teflon spatula for your non-stick pan. In addition, buy a silicon baking spatula for scraping bowls. Silicon is an amazing substance which is heat resistant up to 550 degrees. Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking. Libbey 16-Piece Polaris Glassware Set Kitchen tips -> Two-crust pie When making a two-crust pie, moisten the edge of the bottom crust with water before placing the second crust on top. The moistened edge will help create a good seal once the two crusts are crimped together |
