Customer Reviews of Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned Barbecue Grill/Grate
Customer Rating: Summary: New Life to Old Grill Comment: First, the grill is as the image uploaded by Steven. Second, I disagree with the reviewer from Jupiter that "gas grills are a waste of money". I have a 7-year old bottom of the chain gas grill, one with the 17-inch dual burners and a porcelain coated grill. It burned foods quite often and in the past two years I had been contemplating many newer versions with cast iron grate but they were all too big for my need. Holding down my tears, I forked out half the price of a similar new grill for a new heat plate and burner to get by, then I found this grate and could not be happier. Well, actually I could if they make it larger, say about 14x20 which still fits all standard grills while giving a lot more cooking surface. I withheld one star for this. For cooking, the uneven flames produced by the cheap grill are now intercepted by the cast iron grate and spread out evenly. You can read elsewhere for what to be liked (sears, brown, ...) or disliked (maintenance, weight,...) about cast iron and decide for yourself, but the fact that it turns botchy flames into even heat alone is worth a try. I don't think we are going to get a new grill any time soon. Customer Rating: Summary: Confused Comment: Why does the product shipped not match the picture shown? Is the picture of an older model or is the product shipped old stock? Customer Rating: Summary: Expensive but nothing is better in the Broiler Comment: Gas grills are a waste of money. Get this and use it in your boiler for the same taste and feel. More Reviews The one barbeque essential that prevents foods from falling through grill slots. Nothing compares to meats, fish and veggies tenderly seared on a cast iron grill. Designed with more than a century of expertise, this preseasoned nonstick grill grate is ideal for backyard and patio cooking and serves as a portable camp grate for the woods, beach or lake. Lodge Logic's preseasoning process penetrates the metal's pores thoroughly and uniformly, so it looks and performs better than traditional home seasoning. You still get the even heating, superior heat retention, and inherently stick-resistant finish that has made cast iron cookware a favorite of professional chefs. Crafting legendary cast iron products since 1986, Lodge is the world's leader in cast iron cookware. Product Features • Precision molded cast iron with exacting wall thickness • Preseasoned to a treasured black patina with 100% natural vegetable oil • Ribbed cooking surface sears food evenly and produces characteristic char lines • Preseasoned coating is impermeable to odors and stains • Superior conduction of heat promotes faster grilling times • Even distribution and retention of heat ensures grill stays hot longer • Deep ribs separate the fat from food for healthier cooking • Foods will not react with the cast iron metal • Easy-clean surfaces are scratch-resistant • Hand-wash • Made in the USA Choosing Appliance -> Food Processor This is a big ticket item, but worth its weight in gold. It will save so much time when it comes to simple chopping or more advanced preparations like mayonnaise. As with most things, buy quality-- it will last longer, be capable of tougher jobs, and give you less problems. To make the food processor easiest to use, leave it on the counter top instead of storing it in a cabinet. Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes.
