Customer Rating:   Summary: Works great - beats calling a repairman Comment: It works as advertised. In the drawing, it shows the flat bar-type ignitor (which is what was originally in my oven). However, when I ordered this, I received the round-type ignitor. Fortunately, it is working just fine. Assuming you can get part-way into the oven and remove the diffuser plate to allow access to the ignitor, it's simple to install and works just fine. Buy this for $30 and spend 20 minutes putting it in, or pay a repairman $150+ to do it; it's your choice. The only thing a repairman can do that you can't is to check the current draw on your old ignitor and rule out the (slim) possibility that there is a problem with your gas regulator. If you have a clamp-on amp meter (which goes for around $80 at home depot, you can do that yourself too. I give it 4 stars because it's round, not flat. But it works perfectly fine. And the price is just fantastic! More Reviews This gas oven ignitor (bake ignitor) will replace most rectangular ignitors including the 12400035 Maytag ignitor and the GR412 Gemline number. 
Choosing Appliance -> Range Cookers The way you cook is also key to deciding which type of range cooker to choose. No-frills heat storage ranges such as Agas retain heat they have gradually built up and generally have two ovens without temperature controls - the hot oven is for roasting and baking, the cool one for slow cooking/keeping warm. Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. Useful info -> Is the top or bottom element going to perform the self-cleaning cycle? Some ovens only use the top element and others only use the bottom one. Better designed ovens use the bottom element. The reason for this is that most grease spills and splatters (soil) will accumulate on the sides and the floor of the cavity - not on the ceiling (where the broiler is located) and therefore, the element that is the closest to these soiled areas should be the one to work the strongest in order to bake off the soil. |
