Customer Reviews of KitchenAid Professional Egg Slicer, Black

Summary: Works great for a couple of months
Comment: Got this to replace a cheaper egg slicer that I had broken handily (slicing mushrooms mostly) in under a month. This one felt a lot sturdier and did the job great... for a little over 2 months. Unfortunately the wires break in a way I can't really fix, so I'm trying something even more heavy duty next time.

Summary: Slice not
Comment: I purchased this item in December 2005 but didn't use it until July 2006. The wires broke on my first use. I thought about requesting a replacement from KitchenAid but have decided instead to ask for a refund. This item is a total waste of time and money.

Summary: not recommended
Comment: purchased this item from amazon, took out of package and before even using it but touched to feel the tension on the wires and the wires broke. Got a replacement from kitchenaid (very good service) used it once for eggs, went to wipe with a damp cloth and the wire broke again. would not recommend purchasing this item.

More Reviews Slices one hard boiled egg at a time / Excellent for salads and sides / Precise mechanism for comfort and dependability

Choosing Appliance -> Plastic wrap
An absolute must with a million and a half uses. But do not buy just any plastic wrap. Go to a restaurant supply store and buy a large roll of restaurant plastic wrap. It sticks much better than the common grocery store plastic wrap and is much cheaper per foot.
Choosing Appliance -> Range Cookers
The way you cook is also key to deciding which type of range cooker to choose. No-frills heat storage ranges such as Agas retain heat they have gradually built up and generally have two ovens without temperature controls - the hot oven is for roasting and baking, the cool one for slow cooking/keeping warm.

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Hob and grill cooking
Modern appliances reach higher temperatures quicker - and often hold heat longer. To avoid worktop damage, follow both the appliance manufacturers instructions and these rules:
  • Always use the correct size of pan for the burner, placed centrally. An overhanging pan can scorch surrounding surfaces. Don't use two burners as one (e.g. for a large griddle) - it has the same effect.
  • To reduce heat, turn the burner down instead of pulling the utensil partially off the heat source.
