Customer Reviews of KitchenAid Professional Fruit Slicer, Red
Customer Rating: Summary: very good for average-size apples Comment: This slicer does a good job of coring and slicing average size apples. It does take a lot of push to get the slicer through the apple; I usually have to lean my torso over the apple to add extra weight to the push. I have previously owned a different brand whose handles were not all one piece, and it broke very quickly. This one is a better design, and so far it is lasting well. It goes through the dishwasher with no problems. The main problem I've had with this one is that if your apples are large, it doesn't remove all of the core, and if they are jumbo, they are wider than the slicer and you can't use it at all. Customer Rating: Summary: Good slicer lasts with daily use 18 months max Comment: I have owned 3 of these apple slicers from KitchenAide that I purchased from Amazon. I like them very much. They are sharp and quickly cut an apple while removing the core at the same time. Also, they go in the dishwasher no problem top or bottom rack. However, they only last about 18 months before they break completely through. The begin cracking on the sharp (down) side where the metal is embedded in the plastic. Customer Rating: Summary: wasted $9 on this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Comment: I bought it after reading the reviews but I am very disappointed with it. I couldn't go through even half of an apple with it. One should be very strong indeed to use it to cut through a whole apple. And it is too big to cut my favourite golden delicious apple. The apple was too small for the slicer.. Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent Comment: This apple slicer is great. Very sharp blades that cut through the apple with ease. The handles also make it comfortable to use. More Reviews This fruit slicer cores and slices apples and pears into appealing wedges in just seconds. The simple gadget also greatly reduces the amount of time it takes to prepare fruits for pies or tarts, and is much easier to use than some of the more gimmicky coring/slicing contraptions out there. Equipped with a sharp stainless-steel cutting blade, the slicer fits over any apple with less than a 4-1/4-inch diameter and divides it into eight sections while simultaneously separating out the core. The slicer requires only one swift push downward to execute and a soft-grip rubber handles ensure that the slicer won’t slip out of hands. The slicer has a durable plastic body that won’t show stains, and is safe for cleaning in the dishwasher. KitchenAid offers a hassle-free replacement warranty on this slicer during the first year of ownership and a lifetime limited warranty on it thereafter. --Cristina Vaamonde Choosing Appliance -> Grater In our opinion, the old fashioned box graters work the best since they are sturdy and offer several different grating sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier. KitchenAid Professional Fruit Slicer, Red Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Stainless Steel Maintenance Wipe away any acid spills such as from vinegar or grapefruit straight away. Never clean the bowl or draining board with an abrasive cleaner. Instead use liquid detergent in warm water and wipe with a soft cloth to remove water drop marks. Care for stainless steel appliance fascias and cabinet fronts in the same way. If choosing stainless steel cabinets, a 'brushed' surface is less likely to show grease from finger marks. |
