Customer Reviews of KitchenAid Professional Salad Spinner, Blue
Customer Rating: Summary: Not So Hot, KitchenAid! Comment: We have a kitchen full of KitchenAid appliances and cookware and are very happy with them all. Unfortunately, this salad spinner falls far short of the quality I've come to expect. First of all, you have to put it together from numerous smaller parts, and as you know, anything you can put together, can fall apart. Next, the thing is just really big and bulky, using a lot of wasted space on large plastic pieces. The plunge handle seems great at first, however, if you push it all the way to the bottom it LOCKS! So you have to be careful as you're pumping it not to reach the bottom. Very annoying. Why couldn't they have designed it so that you had to twist it at the bottom to lock, or something? Anyhow, I'm just used to KitchenAid being the highest quality and using the smartest ingenuity in their design, so I'm a bit surprised by this one. Customer Rating: Summary: Pump handle locks when you use it. Comment: Bad design. The pump handle locks into place when you push it down to make the basket spin. So you get one push/spin and then it locks. You have to put one hand under the pump lever to keep it from going all the way down and locking, or push very lightly which produces a very low speed spin that does not spin off the excess water from the salad. I'm shopping for a replacement. Customer Rating: Summary: BEST Salad Spinner Comment: This is the BEST salad spinner I've ever used. It is easy to use and it stays in place on the counter while spinning - not moving about. It also has a set of three "wings" that can be used to separate the basket into separate compartments for cleaning multiple items at once. I HIGHLY recommend this product. More Reviews Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Choosing Appliance -> Dishwashers Look for models with adjustable baskets and flexible internal layouts for varying load requirements. For example, a tilting upper basket allows large 30cm diameter plates in the lower basket and extra flaps can be raised or lowered to cater for small items or large pans. KitchenAid Professional Salad Spinner, Blue Useful info -> Is the top or bottom element going to perform the self-cleaning cycle? Some ovens only use the top element and others only use the bottom one. Better designed ovens use the bottom element. The reason for this is that most grease spills and splatters (soil) will accumulate on the sides and the floor of the cavity - not on the ceiling (where the broiler is located) and therefore, the element that is the closest to these soiled areas should be the one to work the strongest in order to bake off the soil. |
