Customer Reviews of Joyce Chen Burnished Bamboo Chopstick Set with Holders

Summary: decent chopsticks
Comment: they are fancy looking and they come with the nice holders, but you never actually use them at the table you just use the holders to keep the chopsticks fro touching the counter while you are cooking. THey are bamboo but kind of smooth so food sometimes slips off a little more than the regular disposable wooden chopsticks.
Mostly I bought them because I needed something to put me over the $25 limit for shipping.

Summary: Good product
Comment: Nice chopsticks as far as chopsticks go. Bamboo holders are okay, but hey it's not like you paid an arm and a leg for them.

Summary: Good Chopsticks, Good Price
Comment: I picked up this two pair set about 6 months ago and I've been using them all this time with no problems. They clean easily like plastic or metal chopsticks (I hand wash them in less than a minute), but they also grip food well. They're slightly less slippery than some plastic or lacquered chopsticks that I've used in the past, and they're lightweight with fine-tapered ends that don't get in the way when you're eating.

I don't use the chopstick holders, however. I can imagine that the closed tops might be a little cumbersome while eating a meal. But the price of this product is well represented by the quality of the chopsticks alone, so I don't see that as a point worth complaining about.

Comment: These chopsticks are wonderful! Very easy to get used to, great to chi (eat) any zhongwen fan (Chinese food)!! I used them to pasta the other day so they're great for everything! They are very long and come with these cute, nice finished bamboo chopstick holders. You will love these!
Enjoy!!!

Choosing Appliance -> Sinks
Consider which accessories might be beneficial. Many models can be supplied with a draining basket, chopping board and strainer bowls. A drainer extension can be useful for sinks without a drainer where worktop space is limited in a small kitchen.
Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens
Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans.

Useful info -> Planning your Kitchen
Ask yourself a myriad of questions about your lifestyle (and that of your family), so it's as well to have as many of the answers ready as possible. Consider:
  • who's going to be using the kitchen - is it just the cook or does everyone tend to congregate there?
  • Do you keep pets who eat or sleep in the room?
  • Do you need a table or will a breakfast bar suffice?
  • More and more families are creating a living kitchen where there is not only a dining table but also some soft seating and a television.
  • Would you consider building an extension or giving up a formal dining room to create a large kitchen/diner?
  • What other tasks are undertaken in the room apart from cooking? Is it used for laundry, ironing, homework, entertaining?
