Customer Reviews of Leifheit Cherry Stoner
Customer Rating: Summary: Super design, efficient pitter Comment: We live near the Cherry capital of Michigan, and found this pitter to be far superior to others used -- with great bang-for-the-buck. This machine is simple to assemble, clean but easy enough so our 3 to 8 year olds ran the Cherries for an hour! --Pete & Lori Kroll Petoskey, MI Customer Rating: Summary: Great for the price Comment: Leifheit Cherry Stoner This product is a real time saver if you have lots of cherries to pit. I did notice however that the cherries need to be fresh and firm for the pitter to work best. If they are a bit on the soft side sometimes the seeds don't break free. It's easy to get the hang of. I would highly recommend this if you prefer to spend a couple hours versus all day pitting cherries. Customer Rating: Summary: Leifheit Cherry Pitter Comment: Leifheit Cherry Stoner I've had great success with this model. Unlike some other comments I've read, I've been able to to put quite a few cherries in the reservoir. However, one must be careful to ensure the pit pops out of every one of the cherries. Also, pull the pitting rod all the way up & the cherry rolls out like a charm. It's easy pitting & easy cleanup. I highly recommend it. Customer Rating: Summary: I wish I'd bought it sooner!! Comment: This is a wonderful product! I love to pit and freeze cherries when they're in season and it has always been such a chore...until I purchased the Leifheit Cherry Stoner. I breezed right through 5 pounds of cherries in no time at all! It is a mechanical devise so I don't find it unusual that a few (and I mean very few) cherries get through with pit intact. It comes apart easily for cleaning. Customer Rating: Summary: Efficient and easy to use Comment: We bought this cherry pitter when we were given 10 pounds of sour cherries from a friend with a cherry tree. We found it very efficient and easy to use. You do have to make sure that you completely raise the plunger after it pushes the pit through the cherry to get the pitted cherry to release and roll down the exit chute. I wonder if those who complained about having to release the cherries manually weren't lifting the plunger high enough. We had no trouble getting the cherries to feed quickly and release automatically. More Reviews Well designed, practical and handy. This cherry stoner will save you time by pitting cherries quickly and efficiently. Great for pie makers and canners, this cherry stoner will process 25 lbs of cherries per hour. 2 year guarantee. Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Leifheit Cherry Stoner Kitchen tips -> Carving meat Before carving meat, allow it to stand for 10 to 15 minutes after removing from the heat source to allow the juices to be redistributed through the meat. The standing period will result in firmer, juicier meat and will make carving easier. |
