Customer Reviews of MIU Stainless-Steel Salad Spinner
Customer Rating: Summary: Not good Comment: Item was not marked as MIU and appeared to be an extremely generic chinese knock-off. Would have maybe been ok had the item worked, however it didn't spin and based on the construction of the item there was no reaso why it shouldn't have. Very unsatisfactory item. Thankfully shipping it to and from was free! Customer Rating: Summary: Not really stainless steel, watch for the plastic inside bowl Comment: I was delighted to find this product as i thought it was stainless steel. It was meant as a gift, and so by the time the box was opened it was past the 1 month return policy. While the spinner operates smoothly, etc.. the inner basket is plastic... NOT stainless steel. I would expect that when something is advertized as stainless steel, there should be mention of an inner plastic spinner bowl. I would otherwise have stuck with my $10 spinner from walmart, as the food still makes contact with plastic. This was clearly a miscommunication problem by amazon... and a costly one for me. Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointment Comment: Poorly made, cheap in construction and inadequate in functionalisty. Overall disappointment. Look for something else. Customer Rating: Summary: a solid spinner Comment: The MIU salad spinner is an attractive and very functional product. The ability to convert it to a salad bowl is an extra benefit. wino77 Customer Rating: Summary: Very disappointed overall Comment: I had high expectations for this salad spinner, but it fails in 3 areas. First, it is nearly impossible to get the spinner to go fast enough to get the water off of the lettuce! That defeats the original purpose of this device. Second, it's rather small - you must wash and spin the "average" head of lettuce in halves. Third, although the outer shell is all stainless steel, the handle and the internal basket are just inexpensive plastic, just like any other spinner. The handle in my new unit has popped off a few times. I don't expect this spinner to last more than a year or two. I would avoid this item. More Reviews A salad spinner is ideal for making fresh crisp salads -- it removes more water and dirt than simply using a colander. It is gentle enough to wash berries without crushing them. The crank handle is large and rotates easily: with only a few quick turns, you have a basket of clean ready-to-eat greens, herbs or berries. The gorgeous stainless steel bowl also doubles as a serving bowl, perfect to take from the sink to the dinner table. The no-fuss cord is efficiently encased in the lid to keep the cord from tangling. The salad spinner also comes with an extra storage lid for leftover foods. Both the bowl and lid are stainless steel and dishwasher safe. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Choosing Appliance -> Fridge / Freezers Added features such as ice making and drinks dispensers can all add to the appeal of certain models. Ice making is an option on many American style fridge-freezers, sometimes available without opening the door, as are cold water dispensers. Zoned models offer several storage areas, all at different temperatures, designed to keep a variety of foods fresh for longer. Most manufacturers now offer adjustable shelf heights and storage units which simplify food storage. MIU Stainless-Steel Salad Spinner Useful info -> Dishwashers Don't put up with intrusive machine noise in the kitchen. Most dishwashers are now whisper quiet, 45-49dB being typical. You should still be able to watch the television or hold a conversation whilst the machine is operating. |
