Customer Reviews of MIU Composite Mandoline Food Slicer
Customer Rating: Summary: great buy Comment: A have not personally used this product. I bought it as a gift for my daughter and she loves it. More than once, she has commented on the slicer or should I say raved on about it. Customer Rating: Summary: Just average Comment: This product was just average, not great. I found it awkward to use when trying to cut thicker slices. I was also not very impressed with the limited range of thickness you can cut your food. Customer Rating: Summary: Plastic frame is too fragile; otherwise, great product! Comment: Yes, the title of my review is accurate. This is a great mandoline slicer. It is of good width, has a diverse set of interchangeable blades, it is easy to operate (changing blades is easy, adjusting thickness is easy, setting up stand is easy), and dishwasher safe makes it a breeze to clean. Unfortunately, the framing plastic is **VERY** fragile. I bought this as a Christmas gift and was disappointed to open the package and find that the end had been broken during shipping. I do plan to have this mandoline replaced with the same product, but, I am very aware that the frame will break with little wear-n-tear. This is disappointing given the wide range of plastics available for use in the kitchen. I hope they will improve this with a more grippable and sturdy plastic. I also hope they will improve the stand by shortening it and adding notches so that the device will also fit over a bowl, but, this is not as serious as the fragile nature of the plastic. Customer Rating: Summary: barely functional Comment: I was excited when I first got this as I assumed it would make the process of Julianning vegetables. I was wrong. It barely cuts anything harder than a zucchini (and I had serious problems with that), let alone things like carrots or onions. It has spent that last year or so collecting dust in a corner as I've find it significantly faster to just use a paring knife and slice my vegetables the old fashioned way. Customer Rating: Summary: Opps - Slicer Comment: Cons: Because of poor quality, the price. Plastic casting burs left over from manufacturing make inserting the blades very difficult; along with sloppy tolerances cause the rubber feet to fall out often. Light weight, not enough mass in the pusher handle/knob, or the base unit. (it's all hollow plastic) Pros: Lots of cutting blades in a nice little translucent snap lid box. Unit folds up for storage. I'm very unhappy with this purchase. More Reviews The mandoline has a black composite body, black safety food holder, adjustable slice thickness with a level on the bottom and 3 interchangeable juliene blades: 2, 7 and 10 mm. It also come with a straight slicing blade and a crinkle/waffle blade. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Washer When shopping for a new washer, look for a front loading (horizontal-axis) machine. This machine may cost more to buy but uses about a third of the energy and less water than a top-loading machine. With a front loader, you'll also save more on clothes drying, because they remove more water from your clothes during the spin cycle. Look for the Energy Star label. Choosing Appliance -> Energy-Efficient Refrigerators The EnergyGuide label on new refrigerators will tell you how much electricity in kilowatt-hours (kWh) a particular model uses in one year. The smaller the number, the less energy the refrigerator uses and the less it will cost you to operate. In addition to the EnergyGuide label, don't forget to look for the Energy Star label. A new refrigerator with an Energy Star label will save you between $35 and $70 a year compared to the models designed 15 years ago. This adds up to between $525 and $1,050 during the average 15-year life of the unit.
