Customer Reviews of Cuisinart ICE-30BC Pure Indulgence 2-Quart Automatic Frozen Yogurt, Sorbet, and Ice Cream Maker
Customer Rating: Summary: Highly recommend... Comment: This thing will become your best friend if you love icecream.. It is super simple and really fast. (if you wait for it to completely freeze) It comes out like soft serve. But it hardens very quickly if put in the freezer inside the freezing container. Just watch for scratching the inside of the bowl.. Things can get hard to get out once set. We let it set on the counter for about 10 mins. and it is easier to work with. We are bad and we don't really follow the recipe book.. If you want richer icecream, substitute the milk with half & half and use the whipping cream it calls for then add any kind of additions in the last 5 mins. YUMMY.. Customer Rating: Summary: Good value; great ice cream Comment: This is a great little ice cream maker. The first time we used it we tried the vanilla ice cream recipe: Warning--unless you like lots of "fat" on the roof of your mouth DON'T use heavy cream. At least for our family, it was much too rich. The secone time we adapted an old family recipe and it was wonderful. Our only problem was that we didn't puree the strawberries and they clumped up around the "stirer"--I don't know the technical term for it. It's really fast. We're looking forward to trying more recipes--without heavy cream! Customer Rating: Summary: Cuisanart Icecream maker Comment: I agree with most people's response to this maker in that one must freeze container to the ultimate before use, and still, it sometimes does not make hard ice cream, but hard enough for my taste. The ice cream is fantastic! It is definitely noisey, I think very noisey in fact, so you want to make the ice cream in advance BEFORE guests arrive, which then gives you the opportunity to harden it up a bit in freezer before eating. It is definitely a pain-free way to make great ice cream. Glad we got it and good product. Customer Rating: Summary: More please! Comment: Dangerously good at making ice cream. It is easy to use and clean (especially if you have willing kids to lick the dasher). When I used Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream recipes, every time we served the ice cream (vanilla and chocolate), people told us this is the first time they have thoroughly enjoyed homemade ice cream. Our son-in-law said it is worth exercising for. My son asked for this ice cream to be his birthday dessert so we made a lot ahead of time for his party. I've been asked to bring the maker to our Thanksgiving meal. Invest in Ben and Jerry's book as the egg additions make a difference in your ability to freeze the ice cream. I purchased this product because we love ice cream and I was frustrated in trying to find ice cream that had ingredients I could read without being a chemist. A few good quality ingredients can make great ice cream. When you need to stop making ice cream, leave the bowl out of the freezer! Then you have to think about the calories for a few days before the next easy, yummy indulgence. Customer Rating: Summary: disappointed Comment: I was so excited about trying this ice cream maker as I had read the reviews. I followed the directions exactly and when I went to freeze the mixture it never even started to thicken. I even tried running it a little longer. I used the recipe that came with the machine. More Reviews This fully automatic frozen yogurt-sorbet and ice cream maker features a brushed stainless steel housing, a large ingredient spout and a heavy-duty motor capable of making frozen desserts or drinks in as little as 25 minutes. The double insulated freezer bowl can hold up to 2 quarts of frozen desserts. Also includes instruction / recipe book. Large ingredient spout for adding mix-ins Includes instruction / recipe book Limited 3-year warranty Choosing Appliance -> Ovens Most avid bakers prefer separate, even-heat double electric ovens. If that describes you - and you have the space - be sure one of the ovens is equipped with a broiler that provides at least 3,000 watts of cooking power. Also look for racks that pull all the way out and lock in place for safe, easy access to the oven. On the inside, a dark interior shows less baked-on grime, while a porcelain interior is easier to clean Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking.
