More on this product: Editorial Review | Description
More than any other Spode pattern, Blue Italian has captured the imagination of consumers and collectors ever since its introduction in 1816. The richly rendered central scene of Italian architecture and landscape has mystified aficionados of the pattern who have tried to track down its actual location. The general consensus is that the image is a compilation of Italian settings, perhaps drawn by an early traveling artist. Contrasting with the classical scene is a floral border copied directly from eighteenth-century Chinese porcelain. Hugely popular, Blue Italian is produced on a wide array of tableware, cookware, and giftware shapes, and sets a truly impressive table. Made in England of high-quality Imperialware, the pattern is conveniently safe for the dishwasher and microwave. Choosing Appliance -> Sinks Consider which accessories might be beneficial. Many models can be supplied with a draining basket, chopping board and strainer bowls. A drainer extension can be useful for sinks without a drainer where worktop space is limited in a small kitchen. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Kitchen tips -> Baking When baking, it is best to allow ingredients, such as eggs, butter, and milk, to become room temperature before mixing with other ingredients |
