Customer Rating:  Summary: very good product Comment: This nut chopper is well designed and easy to use. I like the function of fine or coarse options as well as being able to sprinkle or store the chopped nuts. Reviewers who complained of the blades breaking probably cracked the nuts themselves and allowed shells to be mixed with the meats. I bought two of these choppers: one to keep and one to give as a present. Customer Rating: Summary: A Simple Product that Works! Comment: This is a great little nut chopper. It works great. If you have ever used a food processor to chop nuts and had them turn into mush, you could find this product useful. The nuts it chops ALL come out perfect for cookies, candies, etc. AND, you don't have to plug it in. Sometimes simple if better. I would have liked to find that the nut pieces were fairly uniform in size. In fact it yields a range of sizes, with say 20% in a fine powder and 80% in nice-sized chunks. I tried sharpening the tangs, but the result is the same. So satisfactory, but not as good (and not as time-consuming) as taking each nut and cutting it with a sharp knife. Given the price, it is a very good deal. One can always filter the result to take only the larger pieces for a demanding recipe or garnish (and use the dust somewhere else). Soft, oversize handle makes grinding effortless for right or left handed cooks and the wide lid makes no-spill filling easy. Measurements are clearly marked on both sides of the generous 1-1/3 cups container. Non-skid base holds the chopper firmly in place while grinding. 
Choosing Appliance -> Food Processor This is a big ticket item, but worth its weight in gold. It will save so much time when it comes to simple chopping or more advanced preparations like mayonnaise. As with most things, buy quality-- it will last longer, be capable of tougher jobs, and give you less problems. To make the food processor easiest to use, leave it on the counter top instead of storing it in a cabinet. Choosing Appliance -> Spatulas Buy a sturdy stainless spatula for general uses and a Teflon spatula for your non-stick pan. In addition, buy a silicon baking spatula for scraping bowls.
