Customer Reviews of La Pavoni ESP-20 Stainless Caffe Mattina Cordless Electric Espress 8-c.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent! Comment: Fabulous device. Makes really great espresso! It does not leak at all. Easy to use and easy to clean, I have recommended this espresso maker to my friends and family. I highly recommend this device. Customer Rating: Summary: 2 years later & I'm still using it everyday! Comment: I have been using this for over 2 years and it is fantastic. I used to drink a pot of coffee in the morning and needless to say, I had some predictable side effects. I was constantly running to the bathroom, my stomach was queasy, I got frequent headaches and was jittery, not to mention the time it takes to drink that much coffee. Now I drink a pot of this a day (equivalent to an ample cup of coffee) and experience none of the above. Just for the record, mine has a 10 shot capacity. It simply improved my quality of life. A lot to say about a small pot! Espresso experts will scoff at calling it "espresso" since it won't meet their brewing standards, but for those of us out there that are NOT experts and want to "get up and go" in the morning, then this is the one for you! Just one tip - pack the grounds loosely and don't overfill it with espresso grounds or it will spurt, spew and sputter. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Coffee Maker, but . . . Comment: I usually make my espresso with a stove-top espresso maker, which makes excellent espresso. I got this for when I wanted to make more espresso, take it on trips, etc. The only problem is, it doesn't make very good espresso. That's why I call it a "coffee maker." I think it turns out a few good cups of coffee, but the taste cannot be compared with my little stove-top espresso maker - it just doesn't taste like espresso, and the texture is a little thick. I use it, and enjoy it, but not every day. I will say though, for those who like it, it works well in making iced coffee. Customer Rating: Summary: easy, tasty espresso! Comment: This is a countertop friendly, cordless espresso maker that makes great coffee when you use an espresso grind for the coffee. The auto shut-off makes it foolproof, and it is made of stainless steel, so no off tastes. I think it is great! Customer Rating: Summary: Leaks water all over the place! &*%#$!!!!!! Comment: I have been anxious for such a device for a long time. I want hot strong espresso made in my office and not a bulky countertop model. The first time ever I used this, I used 'untamped' Illy espresso. Once hot the pressure started shooting hot water out the base of the bottom pot. (It was not the joining gasket area.) Now that the pressure had broke whatever was holding it together in the first place the water leaks out just by gravity. I will have to return this one and hope for a better made one but I suspect it is poor design and others will also fail. In the meantime I am back to drinking the office swill. #$&$#^$% the people that made this item! More Reviews The la Pavoni Caffe Mattina is a cordless espresso machine maker that combines a nostalgic design with a 180-degree automatic brewing, an automatic shutoff, a pressurized safety valve and an illuminated power light. Made of polished stainless steel, the Caffe Mattina has a drip-proof, tilting pouring spout and stay-cool handle. Fully portable, it makes 7-8 cups of espresso coffee. Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking. Choosing Appliance -> Cutting boards There seems to be little difference between hard wood and plastic cutting boards from a safety standpoint, as long as they are properly washed and sanitized after each use. Personally, I like the feel of solid wood. One piece of advice--buy large cutting boards. Don't bother with these tiny boards that everyone seems to have in his or her kitchen. They are not user friendly. Once you get down to serious cutting or chopping, the small boards are always woefully inadequate and downright maddening! Useful info -> What is a Springform Pan Traditionally, a springform pan has been defined as a round pan, that with the aid of a clamp, has removable sides and bottom. Generally used for cheesecakes, these pans allow cakes or tortes to be easily extricated from the pan. |
