For a red to "breathe" or "open up," it must be in a large bowl like this one. The size allows expansion of the perfume of the wine. The inward curve is conducive for a concentration of the aroma and then an lovely inhaling of such. Ah, one of the wonderfully simple pleasures of life--first the wine, then the correct glass! Salut! Oh, yes, you thought I forgot the price. Mais non, that's a steal, oui? Quel plaisir! Customer Rating: Summary: Terrific value Comment: These aren't fine crystal, but they are perfectly adequate BIG red wine glasses or water goblets. Obviously you wouldn't fill these with 18 ounces of wine (you know that, right?) -- but a standard 4 ounce serving has plenty of room to swirl around in these king-sized glasses. Stick your nose in there and smell the flavors you would miss in a smaller glass. Six for $20? A steal. Buy these!
