Customer Rating:  Summary: Saeco Aroma Comment: Excellent espresso machine for the price. What it lacks in asthetic appearance is more than made up for it's capabilities. Learning curve may be a bit steep especially if you aren't/weren't a barista at one point in your life. But once you find the right beans, the right grind, the correct tamp, and how to froth milk properly, the Saeco Aroma delivers a consistently delicious--and beautiful (see my posted image)-- cup of coffee every single time. Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent machine - quality for years (from user of previous model) Comment: I actually own the previous model (Saeco Classico, now replaced by the Aroma), but I am so happy with it that I came back to write this review. I have had it and used it heavily for five years. Never once have I had a problem with it, with an occasional descaling it runs as new. The brewing routine is obviously a little more elaborate than for automatic machine, but you get to keep control over all the parameters. The machine itself is quite heavy and rugged, but it lends it a solid, professional look. And the espresso is fantastic - I do not recall having a better cup at any restaurant or coffee shop, nor have I come across an equally good home machine. But, I give this 5 stars because it is simple to use, it has a great price, and produces amazingly good espresso! Definitely get this model if you want a good machine that won't break your bank! P.S. Illy espresso pods work great with this machine. Customer Rating:  Summary: dangerous compression Comment: After making a cup of coffee it is normal to be able to remove the Portafilter. With this machine the pressure stayed on and would not let up. When turning the filter handle to open hot coffee grounds sprayed 4' to 5' away, accompanied of hot steam and water, causing a mess and risk. The customer service department was not very helpful. I returned the unit to Amazon granting me a complete reimbursement. I am done with this brand. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Dryer When shopping for a new clothes dryer, look for one with a moisture sensor that automatically shuts off the machine when your clothes are dry. Not only will this save energy, it will save wear and tear on your clothes caused by over-drying. Keep in mind that gas dryers are less expensive to operate than electric dryers. The cost of drying a typical load of laundry in an electric dryer is 30 to 40 cents compared to 15 to 25 cents in a gas dryer. Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. Kitchen tips -> Chicken pieces When cooking chicken pieces, start with the dark pieces and then add the white chicken. The dark takes longer to cook than the white, so starting the dark first will assist in the white and dark getting done close to the same time |
