Customer Reviews of Kuhn Rikon Piranha 6-1/4-Inch Y Peeler
Customer Rating: Summary: Works...separate drawer??? Comment: Soooo....another peeler went to trash and it was time to get a new one. This contraption looked decent, price was good so here we go. Bottom line is the contraption does work. The small teeth on the blade do good work on things like asparagus. There is one wrinkle...this thing is huge when it comes to peelers. Certainly larger than any peeler I have ever seen. Customer Rating: Summary: Zippy Vegetable Peeler Comment: Years ago I was given a Kuhn Rikon veggie peeler. It was a little promo cheapy and my introduction to horizontal peelers. Sadly that peeler died. I found this fellow and am very happy that I did. This little guy makes peeling potatoes, carrots and other roots a easy & quick job. I haven't used it on tomatoes so I cannot speak to that feature. Addendum: November 8, 2008: I have tried, unsuccessfully, to use this peeler on winter squash. It really does not have the strength to be able to handle the thicker skin. I am, however, still quite happy with the peeler for its intended uses. I still have not peeled tomatoes but cannot imagine why anyone would want to peel a tomato. Customer Rating: Summary: best vegetable peeler! Comment: I love this peeler. It is comfortable to hold and peels well. It is much, much better than the old metal kind. I liked it so much, I purchased extras for friends More Reviews The serrated blade on The Kuhn RikonPiranha Peeler works wonders on tomatoes and other smooth-skinned vegetables andfruits.Single Blade PeelerThis harp-shaped--or "Y" shaped peeler gives you great control andquick action. stainless steel blade unique serrated blade wont slip on smooth skins - even peels tomatoes and bell peppers with ease comfortable, non-slip rubber handle ergonomic design - works in right or left hand Choosing Appliance -> Grater In our opinion, the old fashioned box graters work the best since they are sturdy and offer several different grating sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Kuhn Rikon Piranha 6-1/4-Inch Y Peeler Kitchen tips -> Two-crust pie When making a two-crust pie, moisten the edge of the bottom crust with water before placing the second crust on top. The moistened edge will help create a good seal once the two crusts are crimped together |
