Customer Reviews of APPLE MASTER W/CLAMP - BX (colors vary)
Customer Rating: Summary: Hit or miss, literally. Comment: The Apple Master w/clamp by Norpro is a nice apple slicer, corer, peeler. The experience we've had with it is that it either works 100% perfectly or it tends to skip over some of the peel. Not a big deal to us so we are really enjoying it and it works so quickly and effortlessly. Customer Rating: Summary: Why did I wait so long? Comment: I always go through alot of apples in the latter part of the year. I dehydrate apples, make applesauce, apple cake, and freeze slices for pie. It was taking me a long time to peel, cut and core apples for different projects. Although I love apple treats, the prep time was finaly too much. Yesterday, I bought rhe Norpro Apple Master Model 866R. I hooked it up, and was amazed. In lightening speed, I had peeled, cut and cored 12 apples in less than 10 minutes! It is capable of 3 different options: 1) Pare, Core and Slice, 2) Core and slice only, 3) Pare only and has a sharp stainless steel blade. It is also compatible for potatoes. The instruction booklet is easy to follow. The suction base is strong, and works on my coffee table so I can work and watch a movie at the same time. The slices are uniform in size, essential for dehydrating and baking for even doneness. This gadget will save you time and energy. I highly recommend it. Customer Rating: Summary: Sliced too thin Comment: For my purposes, it would rate zero stars, but in fairness I gave it three. The trouble is: I am not interested in making apple sauce; I just want to eat a peeled and sliced apple. If the lead screw on the slicer creates a thick enough spiral, an apple-shaped spiral can be slid off the core, and one knife slice provides a neatly sliced apple. My two previous peelers did this. But this machine slices so thin that the spiral starts to turn inside out like a misbehaving coiled phone cord and then falls apart. So, I was forced to return the machine for a refund. Customer Rating: Summary: Endured the test of time Comment: I have had my Norpro apple/potato peeler for over 10 years and it's still going strong. I make lots of apple pies and crisps and use it for freezing apples in season. You won't be disappointed with this brand. I'm buying one today for my DIL who borrows my peeler all the time. It doesn't peel those gigantic apples very well, so buy the bags of smaller apples when using this peeler. Customer Rating: Summary: Apple Master Rocks! Comment: This handy little device will save you hours of work if you like to make apple pies! It is very easy to work, easy to clean, and you can get 10-12 apples peeled, cored, and sliced in less than five minutes. You can also use it to peel potatoes, although I use mine just for apples. Trust me, it is awesome. The only bummer is that big genetically modified apples do not work, so get the bagged little ones. It is also a learning curve as to how to position the apples. But if you love to make apple pies, you will LOVE this! More Reviews Pares, cores, and slices. Vacuum base holds securely on any smooth surface. Includes deluxe paring blade and separate clamp for mounting to a rough surface. Boxed. Choosing Appliance -> Servicing Your Appliance Buying this "service deal" can be expensive but if you feel happier knowing that you are protected from breakdown for a few years, shop around insurance brokers to see how prices compare. Choosing Appliance -> Spatulas Buy a sturdy stainless spatula for general uses and a Teflon spatula for your non-stick pan. In addition, buy a silicon baking spatula for scraping bowls. Silicon is an amazing substance which is heat resistant up to 550 degrees.
