Summary: Hate Doing Reviews but Find Them Helpful when Im in Need
Comment: This is one great toaster. You will not be disappointed once you find the right setting for your family. We had a Kitchen Aide that was junk and I tossed it in the trash. The handle had even popped off so wasn't even worth donating....this is a good buy.

Summary: Very Happy!
Comment: T-Fal TT7061002 Avante Deluxe 2-Slice Toaster, Black
We are very happy with our T-Fal Avante toaster. We especially like the ability to toast bagels and english muffins. I would recommend this to all.

Summary: Not like thier old toaster
Comment: I had a very similar model of this toaster and loved it. It eventually died and I tried to find a close, if not exact, replacement. I wanted it to be angled, to have a lift feature and hold hand cut slices of bread from loaves that are a bit wider than standard.

This one looks quite a lot like the original but is a pretty big lemon! Very short slice holders, doesn't toast evenly, the lift feature barely works - it short, it is nothing like their old model. So back it went, and I bought a very boring utilitarian one that is OK but will never cause me to be delighted with a toaster like the old Tefal one did.

Summary: looks good, poor quality
Comment: I had a tfal toaster before that I liked (unfortunately it got dropped on a tile floor which did it in) so I bought this as a replacement. It looked good, was a good price, but turns out the quality was poor. The two little handles on either side came off, one by one, and we could not get them back on again. Had to by a new (different brand) toaster.

Summary: Does not toast the whole slice
Comment: I bought this toaster based on the favorable reviews and the attractive look in my kitchen. Well, it looks nice, but it does not toast a whole slice of bread -- only about 2/3 gets toasted, plus when toasting smaller pieces of bread, they fly out of the toaster and land somewhere on the counter when they are done.

Choosing Appliance -> Sinks
Consider which accessories might be beneficial. Many models can be supplied with a draining basket, chopping board and strainer bowls. A drainer extension can be useful for sinks without a drainer where worktop space is limited in a small kitchen.
Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens
Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans.

Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Heat
Rather than cause accidental heat-damage, prevent such damage in the first place:
  • Always use a heat protection pad or trivet (with rubber feet) for hot cookware, or leave cookware to cool on the hob first. Never put hot pans, particularly cast iron. Such heat can damage any surface!
  • If you must put a hot pan on the base of a sink use a protective sink mat, sponge, or cloth beneath. It is best to leave the utensil to cool slightly first, or put a few inches of cool water in the sink before the pan.
  • Avoid pouring boiling liquids directly into sinks without turning on the cold tap as well.
