Customer Reviews of Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RKV25GOXMC Professional 5-Quart Bowl Lift Stand Mixer, Metallic Chrome
Customer Rating: Summary: Problems, but hopeful Comment: The unit showed up promptly, but only worked correctly for ten minutes. After that, it would only run at the fastest speed - essentially useless. I emailed Kitchenaid and they promptly responded that they had ordered a replacement sent with a tag to return the old unit. That was 12 days ago - waiting hopefully. Customer Rating: Summary: Easy to use and maintain Comment: THis is my second KitchenAid Mixer. This one is more powerful than the previous one I got and I think the extra horsepower is wroth having. It's factory-reconditioned so there are some scratches but overall in very good shape. Customer Rating: Summary: Beautiful, well-built Comment: Oh. My. Gosh. I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my new KA Professional 5-Plus, and I will update this review if I encounter any problems, but I am thrilled with this mixer thusfar. It is much larger than I expected - it barely clears the bottom of my upper kitchen cabinets. It is stunningly gorgeous. I've been mixing and baking for 2 days and this thing plows through anything I stick in it. I even kneaded a double batch of whole wheat bread dough -- the mixer has a wonderful curved dough hook that is very effective. I purchased the reconditioned model and it arrived in perfect condition - no scratches or evidence of previous use. Some folks are put off by the lift-type bowl, but I didnt find it difficult to figure out. I never had the tilt head type mixer, so I can imagine if I'd been accustomed to tilting the top back on the mixer I'd find this one hard to figure out, but it's quite intuitive after you've done it a few times. Note that as of the date I'm writing this review, the model numbers and the descriptions on the KA mixers are sometimes mixed up on Amazon. The Professional 5-Plus is a 450 watt mixer with a wide bowl(model number KV25GOX)(the R in front means reconditioned, the two letters that come after the model number are just the color); the similar Professional HD is a 475 Watt mixer with a narrow bowl (model number ends in H0X). I really wanted the wide bowl and after using it I'm glad I got it. It is very hard even with the wide bowl to add ingredients after you have the bowl attached. Customer Rating: Summary: It's 450w not 475w power Comment: Check the Kitchen Aid website and you'll see that the motor is 450w and not 475w as stated. I told Amazon and they gave me $10 back but they didn't fix the listings (new models and other colors are also incorrectly listed at 475w). Pros: This thing is powerful - a full 125 more watts than the tilt-head and other lift models. The accessory attachment cover is now hinged. Cons: The older 5 qt bowls and mixer blades don't fit. It's way noisier then the older models. It is not as solidly constructed as the one I'm replacing. Customer Rating: Summary: Kitchenaid Stand mixer Comment: Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RKV25GOXMC Professional 5-Quart Bowl Lift Stand Mixer, Metallic Chrome I am completely staisfied with my new mixer. I have probably watched too many shows on Food Network, but this is when I first realized how helpful a stand mixer would be. It is as powerful as I need it to be. I need to be careful to start mixing slowly, because the first time I used it, I got a face full of flour! :-) It is particularly good for my fresh apple cake recipe which I double. The dough is thick and this mixer handles it with no problems. Thank you for offering this reconditioned product..... More Reviews Choosing Appliance -> Dishwasher Choose a dishwasher with sturdy compression springs in the door. Also look for tough, lightweight nylon or graphite racks with cushioned tips that protect glassware and cookware. Weimer recommends choosing a model with a rack design that provides the largest, most flexible interior space and is configured for your belongings, including odd-shaped pieces. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Washer When shopping for a new washer, look for a front loading (horizontal-axis) machine. This machine may cost more to buy but uses about a third of the energy and less water than a top-loading machine. With a front loader, you'll also save more on clothes drying, because they remove more water from your clothes during the spin cycle. Look for the Energy Star label. Factory-Reconditioned KitchenAid RKV25GOXMC Professional 5-Quart Bowl Lift Stand Mixer, Metallic Chrome Useful info -> EnergyWise House: Laundry About 80 percent to 85 percent of the energy used for washing clothes is for heating the water. There are two ways to reduce the amount of energy used for washing clothes - use less water and use cooler water. Unless you're dealing with oily stains, the warm or cold water setting on your machine will generally do a good job of cleaning your clothes. Switching your temperature setting from hot to warm can cut a load's energy use in half. |
