Customer Rating:   Summary: Broke after being used only 3 times! Comment: After only three uses, one of the blades broke when we were slicing a mushroom. We only used it for slicing strawberries and mushrooms. Customer Rating: Summary: Best Mushroom Slicer on the market for the price Comment: I have had the usual bad luck with the wire and blade type slicers before (I've probable spent about a $100 in the past year trying - and breaking various brands). The wire ones tend to break on the first or next couple of uses. I read the reviews for all of the egg/mushroom slicers offered on Amazon and decided to give this one a try. WOW - what a difference! It cut all of the way through quite easily, and was easy to clean. I have been back twice again and have bought more as gifts for my family and friends. If there is a "I wish it could do this", it is that the concave portion should be just a little larger. It is perfect for small mushrooms and strawberry sized items. So if the manufacturer is reading this, please make a medium sized model that would have the concave portion about 2 1/2" in diameter, otherwise it's a fantastic product. Customer Rating: Summary: effective, helpful kitchen gadget Comment: I use this slicer for strawberries; I am a supervisor at a breakfast crepe restaurant and have to slice several cases of strawberries a day. This has saved me a ton of time and aggravation, trying to cut up hundreds of berries by hand. I can even delegate this task to my high school student staff, and know they can use this gadget safely and effectively. I bought two, so I would have a second for back-up. Great gadget, reasonable price, super seller! Highly recommended item. Customer Rating: Summary: Best Slicer I've Seen Comment: This is the best mushroom slicer I've used. It uses blades instead of wires as do most of the other brands. Slices great and is virtually indestructible. More Reviews This tool is for use with hardboiled eggs, mushrooms, and soft fruits/vegetables. It will slice very evenly and quickly. Made of stainless steel and imported from China. Hand wash is recommended to keep original finish. 
Choosing Appliance -> Strainers We recommend 2 strainers for every kitchen. The first is a solid stainless steel colander (one big enough to wash a lot of lettuce at once). The second strainer is a fine mesh conical strainer (called a chinois) which is a must for any serious sauce or stock making. A chinois is an expensive purchase, but with care it will last many years. Choosing Appliance -> Mixer Pretty much the same thoughts as the food processor. High quality mixers are great for making bread or other tough jobs. Every kitchen should have one. Be sure that any mixer has all three attachments: paddle, dough hook, and whip.
