Customer Reviews of Julep Strainer
Customer Rating: Summary: Cruzan Comment: The product worked well but I felt I paid to much for the quality I received. Customer Rating: Summary: A little nervous Comment: This looks ok from the online picture, but it doesn't appear very well put together. It seems like it will do the job, but the poor construction doesn't please me, and I'm wondering if it will soon rust. I was hoping there would be an alternative offering, but I did not see one when I purchased this. I have yet to try it. Customer Rating: Summary: Adequate but irksome Comment: This isn't an awful julep strainer, but it's rendered useless (barring a fair amount of effort) by the huge residue-depositing sticker across its entire convex face. If you don't have a handy supply of glue remover and the willingness to take the time to use it & then clean all trace of its flavor from this strainer, I'd recommend buying something else. More Reviews This bar tool can be very hard to find, but it has a very specific use behind the bar and adds a nice touch of class to the process of mixing drinks. This julep strainer is too small for the metal part of a cocktail shaker, but fits nicely inside the glass part. Also, it doesn't fit across the top of the container, but instead fits gently within the glass at an angle. Using it takes a little bit of practice, but works quite well. The Mint Julep Recipe 4 sprigs fresh mint (picked that morning when possible) 1 tsp, or 1 packet, or 1 cube white sugar 1 oz. water 2 oz. Kentucky Bourbon Muddle 3 sprigs mint, sugar and water in bottom of Julep cup or highball glass. Fill glass with crushed ice. Fill to the brim with Woodford Reserve, stir. Dust 4th mint sprig with powdered sugar for garnish. Serve with two straws cut short enough to extend about two inches above the cup, giving the aroma as well as the flavor of the mint when drinking. In stock and ready to ship. Features: Great for making Mint Juleps. Made of 18/8 stainless steel. Specs: Dimensions: 3"W x 6"H. Choosing Appliance -> Knives The importance of high quality knives can't be stressed enough! Buy the best you can and expect to spend some serious money. It is better to buy a couple of excellent knives and slowly add to your collection rather than buying an entire set of low quality knives. Start with a chef knife and paring knife. You will also want to buy a sharpening steel. Choosing Appliance -> Strainers We recommend 2 strainers for every kitchen. The first is a solid stainless steel colander (one big enough to wash a lot of lettuce at once). The second strainer is a fine mesh conical strainer (called a chinois) which is a must for any serious sauce or stock making. A chinois is an expensive purchase, but with care it will last many years. Julep Strainer Kitchen tips -> Fish cooking Rub lemon juice on fish before cooking. This will help the fish maintain its color and add to its flavor |
