Customer Rating:   Summary: Waring Pro DB60 Portable Double Burner Comment: We are very pleased with the performance of our new double burner. We have gone through two others, which managed to last less than 3 months. Either one of the burners stopped working completely, or stayed on constantly when plugged in. We also had problems with the knobs actually working. The Waring Pro has performed very well for us. We use this at our cabin where we do not have a range, and it has met our expectations. She needed some thing temporary that could be used as a subsitute but just as good as a stove. This portable double burner was perfect for what my friend needed. Not only does it look really nice but it cooks just as good as a regular stove. I highly recommend this to anyone shopping for a portable burner, it's worth it. Customer Rating: Summary: heats very slowly... Comment: I have no experience with other portable stoves, but I found that this one heats very slowly. Bringing a pot to boil for pasta can take up to 40 minutes. It is fine for frying eggs, making a grilled cheese or burger, but using both burners at the same time is really pushing it's capacity. Great for keeping things warm but other than that, I was not too happy. Choosing Appliance -> Plastic wrap An absolute must with a million and a half uses. But do not buy just any plastic wrap. Go to a restaurant supply store and buy a large roll of restaurant plastic wrap. It sticks much better than the common grocery store plastic wrap and is much cheaper per foot. Choosing Appliance -> Non-stick Pans We recommend having at least 1 high quality non-stick saute pan. It makes cooking eggs and delicate items like fish a breeze. It also cuts down on the amount of fat necessary to effectively saute. The best place to buy such pans is from a restaurant supplier. Waring Pro DB60 Portable Double Burner
Kitchen tips -> Mixing batter When mixing batter for pancakes, muffins or cupcakes, mix the batter in a large liquid measuring cup with a spout. This will make it easier to pour the batter into muffin tins or pancake batter onto a hot griddle. |
