Customer Reviews of Back to Basics 510 Apple Slicer
Customer Rating: Summary: just like my old one! Comment: I have one from the 1960's and this one works just as well... I did notice it is a bit smaller... so it's not great for very large apples and pears. But it's sharp and makes coring and slicing apples a breeze! :) Customer Rating: Summary: LIGHTWEIGHT CONTENDER Comment: So long as you don't have any hard fruit to work with, you should be fine with this apple slicer. We used it on a pear for canning, and one of the dividers snapped loose. I returned to Amazon to purchase the OXO apple slicer, like I should have done in the first place. More Reviews Make eight easy slices and remove the core with this Back to Basics 510SLICER classic kitchen tool. Made from stainless steel and designed to last a lifetime. 6 w x 4 1/2"d Choosing Appliance -> Ladles Look for ladles that are made of one piece of stainless steel rather than a handle and dome which are spot welded together. With use, spot welded ladles tend to come apart. Buy several differnet sizes. Choosing Appliance -> Convection Ovens Convection ovens allow you to bake more foods (cookies, muffins, etc.) at once with even browning, but without the need to shift and rotate pans. A convection oven is the same as a conventional oven except a fan is installed in the back interior of the oven. The fan is used to blow and force the heat to circulate in the oven and around the food, thus eliminating the need to rotate and shift pans. In reality, though, even with the most expensive convection ovens, you will still need to rotate your foods, because there will always exist still hot spots in the cavity, because the cavity is small. Don't compare home convection ovens with most commercial convection ovens used by bakers and small food manufacturers, because their commercial ovens are much larger than home ovens and commercial ovens don't have any hot spots and therefore, there's no need to shift and rotate pans. Back to Basics 510 Apple Slicer Tips How to Maintain Appliance -> Stainless Steel Maintenance Wipe away any acid spills such as from vinegar or grapefruit straight away. Never clean the bowl or draining board with an abrasive cleaner. Instead use liquid detergent in warm water and wipe with a soft cloth to remove water drop marks. Care for stainless steel appliance fascias and cabinet fronts in the same way. If choosing stainless steel cabinets, a 'brushed' surface is less likely to show grease from finger marks. |
