Customer Reviews of Salter Digital Nutritional Scale for Dry and Liquid Measure
Customer Rating: Summary: It's just okay Comment: The scale is okay, but the LED readouts are faint and difficult to read. Also, I haven't been able to find every food that I've input. But it is relatively easy to use and it gives good detailed information on the items that I have found. Customer Rating: Summary: A Measure of Success Comment: Easy, Intuitive, sturdy enough to hold several pounds. Swithes between grams, oz. and liters with a touch of a button. Cleanup is as simple as removing the scale cover and rinsing. Customer Rating: Summary: Wonderful for diabetics Comment: I bought this 1 year ago to help with the food weight for a 3 year old diabetic child in my child care. It was quite a bit of work to figure out how to use it. I guess I was intimidated! Once I sat down for an hour or so and really read over the book and figured out how it worked - I LOVED IT! I have not and will not put favorite recipes in it but I do use it to weigh all her fruit. It does remember the ones you have used and you can scroll through the list. I also LOVE to use it to weigh servings. Ie - I can put a bowl on the scale and zero it out. I add dry pasta for instance or dry cereal until I get to the amount of grams that is 1 serving. You can also change it to ML and LB/OZ as well as G. I probably use it at least 3 times a day for all her meals. I no longer use the 1 cup is a serving method. I use the grams per serving since this scale is so accurate. It has made my life and her insulin portions go much smoother and much more accurate. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Features! Comment: This scale is great for weighing food and liquids. The best thing about it is you can weigh multiple items on the same plate. Just reset it to "0" once you get the weight of one thing on your plate, then put the next item on and get the weight of that item... It's very user friendly. Customer Rating: Summary: Great timesaver for diabetics! Comment: This is wonderful for counting carbs. I'm not sure what issue the previous reviewer had about insensitivity of the scale, mine certainly is not like that. I keep it in grams mode since most products are weighed more accurately that way, and I can weigh an individual goldfish cracker or an almond accurately. Carbs, calories, protein, all the info from the national database is included and it's been accurate based on my experience, with the notable exception of corn on the cob (carbs are undercounted). I don't find the scrolling thing to be annoying at all, and I thought I would. I do think the process for adding an entire recipe of something is cumbersome. It's time consuming and you can't just enter in the volume of something--you need to know the weight. The best time to enter a recipe is when you're making it, so you can do it as you go. If you make lots of casseroles or those kinds of foods and you really want to just be able to weigh a serving of a mixed food item, then it would be worth the trouble.
