Customer Reviews of Breville BCG450XL Conical Burr Grinder
Customer Rating: Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5Rating: 5/5
Summary: Excellent!
Comment:
The consistency of the grinds is very good - as opposed to my old grinder that produced all sizes from powder to chunks.

The burrs are very heavy weight, and the motor is strong so it can grind with lots of power at low RPM's, which reduces heat, noise and static, which translates to flavor!

There's no more coffee on the counter-top.

I'll be looking at Breville products for future small appliances because this design is a home-run and an excellent value!

Summary: very even grinds, great fine grinds, minimal static charging
Comment: I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this machine. There are modifications you can make to get a finer grind but the design must have been updated as it provides an extremely fine grind at the finest setting. The burs heat up and if you don't let it cool as per the instructions it will affect taste.

Summary: Just what I wanted
Comment: This Grinder works great. The only real problem is it makes it to easy to make a second pot in the mornings. The timer has been more than long enough for a 12 pot coffee maker. Also, I have no problems with stray grounds from static electricity and the grounds pour out clean and mess free all the time. To qualify, I followed the initial cleaning instructions and I only go as far as the fine grind setting for drip coffee makers.

Summary: Great quality grinder,good looks too
Comment: My husband and I are very pleased with this purchase. We both researched this product before buying and agreed upon the Breville. So far,no complaints. We use the coarse grind setting for French press and a finer grind for automatic drip coffee. We have not used it for expresso. It's very easy to use and quiet. I also like the looks of it since it matches our coffee maker too.

Summary: Breville Grinder
Comment: Delighted with my choice, Quiet easy operation. Perfect selection of grind size. Elegant on our counter top.

More Reviews Barista grade control for a variety of coffee grinds. The removable bean hopper holds 1/2 a pound of coffee beans. The motor drives the bottom burrs and the top plate is stationary. The distance you position them apart precisely determines grind size. The easy-to-read settings allow for grind choices from ultra-fine for Turkish coffee to large and coarse for percolators.

Choosing Appliance -> Energy-Efficient Refrigerators
The EnergyGuide label on new refrigerators will tell you how much electricity in kilowatt-hours (kWh) a particular model uses in one year. The smaller the number, the less energy the refrigerator uses and the less it will cost you to operate. In addition to the EnergyGuide label, don't forget to look for the Energy Star label. A new refrigerator with an Energy Star label will save you between $35 and $70 a year compared to the models designed 15 years ago. This adds up to between $525 and $1,050 during the average 15-year life of the unit.
Choosing Appliance -> Cooking Pans
This is another area where spending money is justified. The best pans combine different metals like aluminum or copper on the outside and stainless steel on the inside. Aluminum and copper are valued for their ability to spread heat evenly over the entire pan, and stainless steel is valued for its non-reactive qualities. Buy pans which are heavy and thick with solid handles that are well fastened to the pot. As with knives, buy the highest quality cooking pans you can afford one at a time, starting with a saute pan and a 3 qt. sauce pan. They will last forever. At some point, a stock pot (which will be especially pricey) should be considered for serious cooking.

Kitchen tips -> Too salty soup
If your soup becomes too salty when you are preparing it, try adding a teaspoon of sugar and a teaspoon of cider vinegar to combat the saltiness. Another method to try is to add a raw potato to the soup to absorb some of the extra salt
