Customer Reviews of Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 3-Quart Dutch Oven, Island Spice
Customer Rating: Summary: Why should you pay the price of Le Crueset? Comment: I own a 7.5 qt. Le Creuset bouillabaisse pot and love it, but I wanted something smaller for everyday and small jobs without paying Le Creuset prices. I took a chance and got the Lodge 3 qt pot. I love it! Performance and maintenance are identical. The Lodge cast iron seems to be thicker and consequently scorches less easily than the Le Creuset. For 1/4 the price it is a no brainer. All we need now is for Lodge to make more pieces and colors available. Customer Rating: Summary: Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 3 Qt Dutch Oven Comment: This is a fairly good dutch oven for the price. You just need to baby it a little. My experience after a year of regular use according to the instructions included with the pan - Pros: cooks evenly, holds the heat, nice size, attractive Cons: lid does not sit tightly on pan (good for slowly reducing, but not for retaining moisture in the oven) stains easily, enamel cannot tolerate the heat of browning meat, after a while in use cannot be soaked because tiny enamel faults start to rust - especially around the rim I brown meat and vegetables in another pan, and then make the stew/braise in this pan if I want a long, slow reduction of the liquid. I do not think it equal to a LeCreuset, but the price seems fair for what it is. Customer Rating: Summary: Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 3 QT Dutch Oven, Island Spice Comment: Totally love this product. Color is fantastic and I've made some great recipes in this dutch oven. Recommend it and give it 100% rating! It's not the biggest dutch oven out there, but for smaller quanties, this fits the bill. PS I also have the bigger size one too in the same color and also love it! Customer Rating: Summary: This pan is wonderful Comment: This pan is wonderful. I use it every day: for frying, stewing, etc. I love cast iron but I want a pan I can soak. Customer Rating: Summary: Heats Well, But Stains Easily Comment: Well, I wanted to believe these would be as good as it's French Competition. It heats well, that's fine, but I find that food sticks, and it stains very easily. I always have to use a scour pad after use to get it looking clean. More Reviews For more than a century home cooks and great chefs have cherished their round enamel cast iron ovens. From the stovetop and oven, to its elegant table presentation, Lodge Enamel provides superior cooking performance, versatility, and unparalleled style. When you're finished with your meal simply store your food in the refrigerator or freezer without any concern about food reacting to the porcelain enamel surface. Choosing Appliance -> Fridge / Freezers A large number of freezers have eliminated defrosting by continually circulating the air inside the freezer compartment, thus avoiding frost build-up -- a feature well worth paying a little extra for. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Dryer When shopping for a new clothes dryer, look for one with a moisture sensor that automatically shuts off the machine when your clothes are dry. Not only will this save energy, it will save wear and tear on your clothes caused by over-drying. Keep in mind that gas dryers are less expensive to operate than electric dryers. The cost of drying a typical load of laundry in an electric dryer is 30 to 40 cents compared to 15 to 25 cents in a gas dryer. Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 3-Quart Dutch Oven, Island Spice Useful info -> How should I decorate my kitchen? Make sure that all wood mouldings such as doors, architraves and skirting boards are adequately painted before decorating. Ceilings too should be completed. Protect cabinets, appliances and floor coverings from paint or paste drips. You may want to unscrew wall cupboard mounted cornice to facilitate decoration. Don't put too much paste on your paper as it can become very soggy and tear rather than cut. Let the paste soak in for the recommended time and use top quality scissors and a craft knife with a ready supply of new blades for a sharp cut. Borders hide ragged edges at the ceiling. You will be so proud of your work when you have finished. |
