Customer Reviews of Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 6-Quart Dutch Oven, Caribbean Blue
Customer Rating: Summary: Great value Comment: This product is every bit as good as those costing 2 to 3 times as much. Highly recommend. Customer Rating: Summary: It makes for good cook'in Comment: I have enjoyed my Lodge Dutch Oven. It is easy to clean and it is great for slow cooked meals. I also bought the 3 qt casserole. Customer Rating: Summary: Great Value Comment: I can't comment on the durability as I've only been using this pot for a month, but so far it's performed as well as the Staub pot I had been using for years previously. If this holds up for even a couple of years, I'd say it's well worth it for the price! The only catch is that the handle is only oven-safe to 400F, so I have had to remove it on a few occasions. It screws on and off quite easily, though! Customer Rating: Summary: love this pot Comment: ... it's a replacement for the 5-qt. dutch oven I used weekly which was lost when moving. $53 Lodge vs. $210 Le Creuset. The 75% savings paid for a complete 10-piece set of Cuisinart Chef's Classic stainless steel. (Bought the original Le Creuset in 1991 as part of a 2 fry pans, 2 sauce, 1 dutch oven set for $170.) Don't know yet if I like the shallower/wider shape as I'm so accustomed to long-cooking dishes in a deep pot. But, it is a generous 6-qts. (rather than 5), it cooks the same, and the quality is on par with the Le Creuset. There is not as much surface contact with the heating element, but I love the rounded interior bottom for stirring up the pot! This Lodge enameled cast-iron is a beauty--bought the blue one, it feels good to cook in, and I'm so glad to have found a replacement for my favorite, most used pot. Customer Rating: Summary: Great deal on a great pan Comment: I've been looking for an enameled cast-iron dutch oven I could afford. This is it! Produces a good fond, is great for slow cooking, I love it! More Reviews For more than a century home cooks and great chefs have cherished their round enamel cast iron ovens. From the stovetop and oven, to its elegant table presentation, Lodge Enamel provides superior cooking performance, versatility, and unparalleled style. When you're finished with your meal simply store your food in the refrigerator or freezer without any concern about food reacting to the porcelain enamel surface. Choosing Appliance -> Shopping Washer When shopping for a new washer, look for a front loading (horizontal-axis) machine. This machine may cost more to buy but uses about a third of the energy and less water than a top-loading machine. With a front loader, you'll also save more on clothes drying, because they remove more water from your clothes during the spin cycle. Look for the Energy Star label. Choosing Appliance -> Salad spinner While some may consider this a bit on the gadgety side, I think it is a must as dressings do not stick to water-logged salad greens. Lodge Enameled Cast-Iron 6-Quart Dutch Oven, Caribbean Blue Kitchen tips -> Two-crust pie When making a two-crust pie, moisten the edge of the bottom crust with water before placing the second crust on top. The moistened edge will help create a good seal once the two crusts are crimped together |
