Customer Reviews of Oxo SteeL Salad Spinner
Customer Rating: Summary: Spinner goes with me. Comment: I looked for a spinner for some time, but now I have what I won't, A spinner I can make up a salad and take it in the same bowl I made it in, and yet looks nice. A little bigger then I need but that's ok. Their is room for dressing not on the salad. Thanks NKJ. Customer Rating: Summary: How are We in Heaven? Comment: I found this in the back of the fridge one day when sorting out the ontactical greens from the rubbish and found that one can make salads from crips sole frid bags, this comes in just white so if you want to spice up your kitchen, it might only be the neutral. Customer Rating: Summary: Dissapointing product from a good company Comment: We had an older, plastic OXO salad spinner for many years and it worked great and was built with a very durable spinner mechanism. We "upgraded" to this version when we dropped our old one and cracked the bowl. Unfortunately we have had the same experience as several other reviewers here - the spinner mechanism broke after only a few uses. It seems that if the inner basket has any significant amount of weight (from wet greens) in it and you press firmly on the spinner mechanism there is some plastic part that snaps inside the mechanism (at least that is how it sounded when it happened). To OXO's great credit, however, their customer service has been fantastic so far in getting us setup for a refund (not a replacement - we would just break it again I'm sure). Customer Rating: Summary: Cheaper than original, broke in just a few uses. Comment: I had a plastic version of this for many years and it worked great. I broke it and it was my fault. I had no problem purchasing a second one and I thought the steel version would be an upgrade. I was wrong. They changed the plastic spinner top to a much cheaper non-flexible plastic. It broke the same way the other reviewers said theirs broke. This is not the same quality product I purchased before, do not buy this item. I wouldn't buy the smaller one either, it has the same lightweight plastic non-flexible lid. Customer Rating: Summary: Sleek spinner Comment: I must say that I'm surprised by the negative feedback. I find this salad spinner to be atractive, well made, and reliable. The little kid in me often pushes the spinning mechanism as fast as I can for the fun of it, and after months of heavy use it hasn't faltered once. The steel bowl can be used to serve your salad, and has a very durable rubber finish on the bottom so that it's safe for a wood dinning room table, and won't slip while you're spinning (even if you go as fast as you can). More Reviews Choosing Appliance -> Food Processor This is a big ticket item, but worth its weight in gold. It will save so much time when it comes to simple chopping or more advanced preparations like mayonnaise. As with most things, buy quality-- it will last longer, be capable of tougher jobs, and give you less problems. To make the food processor easiest to use, leave it on the counter top instead of storing it in a cabinet. Choosing Appliance -> Built-in Ovens Keen cooks may want to take advantage of multi-function ovens - usually aimed at the top end of the market. As well as traditional cooking, fan or fan-assisted cooking and grilling, these ovens offer up to nine further functions. These include: Top element only (browning), bottom element (final cooking of pastry dishes or pizzas), fan and bottom element (delicate cooking), fan only (thawing).
