Customer Reviews of Oxo Good Grips Cherry Pitter

Summary: All the enjoyment...None of the nuisance.
Comment: I think this is a terrific product. I have always like OXO products and this is no exception. I cannot compare it to other cherry pitters since this is the first one I have ever used but I am very pleased with my purchase. I have always just eaten around the pit and tossed them out, or placed them in a trash bowl as I went, which never seemed like too much trouble. However, now that i have a four year old I was worried (of course) about him choking on the pits and trying to take them out for him made a huge mess so i looked on line and found this cherry pitter.

I chose this one partly because I had been so pleased with OXO in the past and part for the reviews on the splash guard. I found it pretty effortless to use, not much hand pressure needed. I had no trouble lining it up, the pits came right out and there was no splatter or mess which was great.

As a plus I have noticed how much more I have enjoyed cherry season this year now that i can simply remove all the pits in the kitchen and sit down to enjoy a nice big bowl without constantly managing the pits!

I would definitely buy this again and suggest it for friends.

Comment: What a little beauty. I bought this about the time we started getting the beautiful fresh cherries in the grocery store. As usual, I planned all sorts of dishes with the little darlings until reality set in and I realized that the cherry pitter I had been using was reluctant, at best. I hate pitting cherries by hand. I found this little gem on Amazon and it has been worth it's weight in cherry pie. Ok, it's not equal to pennicillin, but to my mind, it is a worth while invention.

Summary: Awesome cherry pitter
Comment: This cherry pitter is great! I can pit many cherries very quickly. The splash guard keeps the splatter in the bowl where I'm pitting. The grip is soft and not as hard as others I've tried. I would definitely recommend this one to anyone looking for one.

More Reviews With the OXO Good Grips Cherry Pitter, baking cherry pies, canning cherries and making homemade preserves are no longer the pits. The Cherry Pitter features a removable splatter shield that directs juices downward and prevents them from soiling your work area. When not in use, the splatter shield fits inside the front chamber and a lock holds the Cherry Pitter closed for convenient storage. Sturdy, die-cast zinc construction removes pits with ease, and soft, comfortable non-slip handles absorb pressure while you squeeze. The cherry holder is extra large to accommodate Bing and Rainier cherries and has a recessed cup to securely hold smaller varieties when pitting. Also try the Cherry Pitter to prepare fresh cherries for small children. The Cherry Pitter should be placed in the dishwasher in its unlocked position.

Choosing Appliance -> Range Cookers
The way you cook is also key to deciding which type of range cooker to choose. No-frills heat storage ranges such as Agas retain heat they have gradually built up and generally have two ovens without temperature controls - the hot oven is for roasting and baking, the cool one for slow cooking/keeping warm.
Choosing Appliance -> Salad spinner
While some may consider this a bit on the gadgety side, I think it is a must as dressings do not stick to water-logged salad greens.

Kitchen tips -> Sharpening Knife
A dull knife is more dangerous than a sharp one, because you apply to it more pressure and force to cut through foods. It can easily slip out of place as you use it and you can harm yourself. Keep your knives in good working condition by sharpening according to their use and time. There's no specified amount of time, because knives vary as much as their use; although, you can easily determine if they need sharpening by the way they cut/slice foods. If a knife can slice through a tomato and tear the skin, then it needs sharpening. If, on the other hand, the cut is clean and quick without any tears, then it needs not be sharpened.
